Evenity Side Effects
Has anyone had severe back pain and burning sensation on Evenity after just starting ?And how long does it last or is it a sign to try another medication? It starts about 7 days after the injection and pain is severe you can’t do a thing.Thanks.

Just want to add that most people do fine with full dose and I am exceptionally sensitive to all meds, and have several health conditions including lupus. I don't want to discourage others from trying Evenity or any other medication if it is needed. I have suffered fractures and side effects that are tolerable are not an obstacle for me, only side effects that are absolutely not tolerable. Fractures are disabling and painful and I will suffer a lot to avoid more.
J know that. Her statement is part if why I do not have confidence in her.
@normahorn you are very knowledgeable so just posted for others 🙂 I don't know why providers can't either say "I don't know" or look up a study. Or even google "Evenity half life"! My favorite doctors know how to say "I don't know" and even better if they add "I'll try to find out."
I just found an email address for FDA and plan to write to them about weight not being considered in the trial for approval. Amgen did mention that they are aware that Evenity is not as effective for heavier people.
I wonder if Amgen could review the data from the trials and filter for effectiveness and tolerabiilty by weight.
It seems they were more concerned with effectiveness than side effects. I just read an article on cancer care and the push back against side effects with cancer meds when a lower dose might be sufficiently effective.
I have to wonder if any analysis is done regarding the reasons behind people dropping out of trials. Do lighter weight people drop out at a higher rate due to intolerable side effects? Are drop outs not included when reporting the results to the FDA?
I stopped Evenity after 2 injections. I had horrible back pain, neck and shoulder pain and stiffness. I had trouble sleeping, had brain fog, jaw pain, terrible headaches and very tight chest that felt like bruised ribs. I'm still having side effects 2 months later. I previously tried Prolia and had very similar reactions. For now I'm working on good exercises, good diet and supplements until I see what else might actually be ok for me. My body reacts very quickly and strongly to any kind of med or shot. I have osteoporosis so trying to get stronger bones.
@misspatty I am glad you mentioned feeling like your ribs are bruised. Me too!
I really feel Tymlos is the most benign of the drugs. It leaves your body quickly. The dose is easily adjustable using "clicks" on the pen. You can ramp up slowly and you can get excellent gains with a partial dose, though the higher you can get the better. I wish I could do it forever even though I had trouble at first getting on it.
Thanks very much for your response. I'll be having a discussion with my primary doctor soon. I'm hoping the adverse effects of evenity go away sooner than later.
hi windy. where do you read about this info ? i looked at Amgen and found their happy info, but didnt find hard biologic info. maybe i was looking in the wrong place. i am curious about any objective sites, too, that arent selling anything. i just finished a whole course of Evenity and it was so hard on me, especially with even worse migraines and major fatigue. i think Reclast is next, and i will ask for four or five divided doses and slowest infusion. not sure if i will get what i hope for. you are so so very helpful. i send my huge appreciations to you.
