There is a beautiful new world awaiting you! Start by tapering .25mg. I started Klonopin in 1986 at 1 ml. X 3
Everyday is a new awakening. I truly feel as if I have
been reborn. I want to stop and smell all the roses!
Today is February 1st. Spring is in the air and I want to
dance in the rain. I also enjoy reading Jesus Calling by
Sarah Young. It is a daily devotional and I focus on that
days message. Here comes the morning!
I am on benzos, can’t function without them. I need them for terrible and sleep. I am terribly scared of side effects .
You know now. Benzos will turn on you and become
your worst nightmare. A journey of one thousand
miles begins with a single step.
I’ve been on a benzo for 10 years and nothing negative came from using it. Without it, I’d have a horrible time with quality of life issues.
If a benzo is helping you , why quit or try to cut down?
My psychiatrist recommended them and I’ve nothing negative to complain about. Except one time I spent 2 months in a hospital and they had my older med list that they used because they lost the updated list I brought with me in the emergency room.
I was not on klonopin at the time so they wouldn’t give them to me. One adavan every 24 hours didn’t do it. I was fit to be tied and followed the med administrator for my adavan. (A useless benzo at a low dose.
I suffered for 2 months when I finally got discharged I went straight to the klonopin at home and within an hour I was myself again. Why should I suffer for up to a year just to cut my benzo out.
It’s been six months and I’m not doing excellent but much better. I get half of one in the morning and one milligram at 4:00 pm. Benzodiazepines aren’t killing me but helping keep me stable day by day. Benzodiazepine is not addictive . Getting off them is. Dancerintherain is it possible that your newfound happiness is from reading the Jesus book along with benzodiazepines?
Thank you for your comment . Do you take other meds with Klonopin ?
Absolutely this!!! Pay attention people. Your benzo, especially if taken daily, will stop working for you sooner or later. You’ll be thrown into withdrawal, the nightmare begins and you won’t wake up for a very, very long time. Please taper while you’re still in control of the situation.
I'm glad to hear that you want to find a way to get out of benzos ... (or other drugs that can have negative side effects). But sometimes we use them because the positive trump the negative.
Going thru Clevelend Clinic (Mayo must have something similar) one can find one main reason
is ANXIETY and a few other ... and among the side effects that it can be (for some) Habit Forming.
But whatever the reason YOU are taking it for, have you not looked into your life choices where you might make a just a little healthier change to overcome the issue behind your benzo use?
In my 80 years I only have occasionally used standard pills like Aspirin. No tests, surgeries, few pains and even doctor visits are rare, my last one maybe ten years ago. I sleep soundly refreshingly 8 hrs, am physically active each day (actually every 2 hrs or so) try working thru my stresses with reflective thinking and remind myself that life is fragile but also full of simple pleasures to help us ALL have a on-balance a 'good life.' (Yes I'd three ups and downs, more down years tho in my life)
So, let's start with with general healthy life style; wholesome food, physically challenging and Enjoyable activities ... and doing our own CBT (I did mine when I'd an anxiety attack for one day) Let's hear your Next step.
My motto after years of research: More (simple) Pleasures equal Less Problems!
I was on benzos for 25 years, I took them as prescribed for sleep. Two years ago my primary doctor retired I had no one to continue my medication for me. I went to see a physiatrist in hoping she would help me. I was told in the state I lived Drs were not able to prescribe them anymore. She put me on a taper for four to six weeks to get off of them. I was unaware of the terror and hell I was about to go through. For a month or so I thought I was fine, then one day I had the most terrifying experience I’ve never had before. I had panic attacks that lasted days then a seizure in the middle of the night. I never had a history of either of those. I went back to the doctor and was told it was impossible to have withdrawal symptoms because they were out of my body. It’s been two years now. Iam suffering every single day. This has left me with disabling symptoms not being able to function or to do the smallest daily tasks. I do believe our nervous system can heal, but it can take years for some of us. Much more research and awareness needs to be done. Whatever you do NEVER fast taper any type of physic drugs. Extremely dangerous. The Dr was so wrong putting me on a 6 week taper when it should of been 18 to 2 years. I was doing fine on them, never wanted to stop them. Once you are in protracted withdrawals there is nothing anyone can do to help. Get a good support system. People that have been or going through this. I don’t mean to scare anyone just being truthful. Please bring awareness about the dangers of benzodiazepines.
I am scared ……. My husband has cancer and my anxiety is not good and I can’t sleep at all, unless I used Restoril . It lets me me sleep about 4 to 5 hours . I know I have been on it way too long . I also need klonopin to function . I am
so scared of taking it but need it .😢😢😢
I know you’re scared. I took Xanax daily for 25 years. I was never told by any of my doctors that eventually I would build up a tolerance and it would no longer work. It was a nightmare that I still have not fully woken up from after 4 years of this mess. Please try to get off the Klonopin before it turns on you. Do some research and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. Another thing to consider here is that doctors are becoming extremely hesitant to prescribe Benzos. Should your doctor die or retire will you have another doctor willing to prescribe? You have to bear in mind that the vast majority of doctors really do not understand the benzo withdrawal process and will in all likelihood have you taper the klonopin much too quickly leaving you in dire straits. Something you need to seriously think about. I hate to tell you this but unfortunately it’s true. Please refer to Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring’s videos on YouTube. He’s extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly what he’s talking about when it comes to these addictive drugs. Good luck and once again I’m very sorry for what you’re going through.
