One member (@vlpr) had radiation that impacted the esophagus and mentioned numbing medication. I'm not sure if something similar may be an option for you.

During radiation and chemo, the side affects included being tired all the time, caughing up flem, loss of appitite, and some diaherra. I got some medication for the diaherra, and the caughing slowed down as the treatment worked. I was on a feeding tube for weeks taking 6 ISOSOURCE canisters per day to get nurishment. I'd be happy to answer questions you may have about these side affects.
