The mystery of my neutropenia
I have been referred to Mayo Clinic Hematology because my neutrophil count has been .03 or .02 for past 6 weeks since discovered during annual physical. My internist and a hematologist in Michjgan cannot figure out why so low. Adding to mystery is that when I had 4-hour minor fever a few weeks ago, the neutrofils shot up to 2700. Any similar experiences?

Hello @marcie555, welcome to Connect. I am glad to hear that you have been referred to Mayo Clinic to have your neutropenia further explored. Here is a blog post from our Hematology Connect Page from a previous Q&A about Neutropenia, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/newsfeed-post/mayo-clinic-q-and-a-understanding-neutropenia-1/. @nicollissa discussed neutrophils in some of her previous posts and may be able to offer some more regarding her experiences as well and I'd like to invite @strongenough2011 back also.
@marcie555, if you are comfortable sharing, have you had your appointment scheduled with Mayo Clinic? Other than your fever, how are you feeling overall?
Justin
Thanks for your response and info! I will check it all out. I am at Clinic this week, have met with Doctor Ding, had blood tests, and am now perched as a checker in Infectious Diseases clinic waiting to see if I can get appt today or this week rather than waiting till Mon. Dr has ordered bone marrow slides from home Dr. and is trying to track down a cause of neutropenia.
The only symptom have had is ayear of loer than usual energy. Fever was a one-time gig.
dear @marcie555
Hope you are doing well
any update about your case?
