Gabepentin vs. Lyrica vs. Cymbalta?

Hi, I was diagnosed by my neurologist with "Idiopathic small fiber sensory neuropathy " in my feet ankles and a little in my hands. For me that means continual mild numbness of both feet and now and then tingling in my hands. Also very painful foot cramping when I go horizontal making sleep tough. After reading through this group I'm not too hopeful on finding a remedy. I'm currently on 1800 mg of Gabepentin daily, and don't think it is doing much if anything. The doctor suggested starting there and perhaps switching to Lyrica or Cymbalta. Most curious about Cymbalta for cramping pain since I think Lyrica will be fairly similar to Gabepentin... Does Cymbalta help with foot cramping and pain? Thanks!

I’ve been taking Gabapentin for a couple of years following 3 back fusions resulting in nightly leg & foot cramps. Lately it hasn’t worked as good so my Neuro added Baclofin which is helping . I often use the baclofin during the day if needed as it doesn’t make me drowsy. I’m on a low dose with both. I tried recently to get off Gabapentin (with dr supervision) and cramps came back with a fury.

i am on 1800mg of Gabapentin. and also 120mg of Cymbalta. to be honest combined they don't work 100%. but way better than not taking. makes it much more bearable for walking and sleeping.

I have been prescribed Gabapentin and Lyrica but have never taken either of them. I am taking 60mg of Cymbalta and it has helped with the overall pain and has given me an energy boost.

I'm on lyrica. Since 2000, I was diag ms & tingling in my r arm which is mostly gone, but it helped for excruciatingly painful tooth pulled when Motrin wouldn't. I won't take any pain pills ever, so I tried 1 Lyrica pill, wow! In 20 min the pain stopped, Now the ms is giving me off & on nerve pain on my leg, which thought was a cracked fibula but wasn't.

I tried both gabapentin and cymbalta (not together) and found no relief. My neuropathy in my feet is from a drug I took for multiple myeloma (velcade). I’ve been on Lyrica for about 4 or 5 years. It’s worked well to take the edge off the pain, but recently my feet have gotten worse so my doc and I have been testing higher doses. When I first tried Lyrica it was at a higher dose which I had to decrease because it gave me light headedness. This time I’m not getting any noticeable side effects, and I think the higher dose is helping, but it’s early days. BTW, when I dropped the cymbalta I had terrible stomach, headache problems, which my doc said was withdrawal! I should have gradually decreased it. Probably the same with Lyrica.
There is no cure for chemo induced peripheral neuropathy, so I just have to find treatments that help, nothing will take it away.

I had been up to 400mg of Lyrica with only moderate pain relief. I gained 25 lbs over 14 years & now I’m on LDN. It got rid of the pain but I still have the numbness. I’m down to 100mg of Lyrica now & I lost 11 lbs over the past two months. I expect to be off Lyrica completely in the next few weeks. LDN is the answer for me.
