Any one here that has been diagnosed with long Covid been successful in getting SSI OR SSDI? I would like to hear about your journey... its been since the end of September, 2023 and I am still having problems with the after effect of LONGCOVID. I have been officially diagnosed with it so I am thinking in terms of applying for long covid disability. thoughts?

Not with long covid (mine is finally gone after 8 months), but I jumped through the SSI disability hoops for my brother many years ago. It is a long process in which you have to give proof that you are disabled and are unable to work. In his case, he went through a job training program, the end result of which he was declared unemployable (he was smart, but mental health problems). So, it is good to start the paperwork and document your disability medically and any other ways that would impact your ability to work. Final payout of SSI disability is rather low, but it does give access to medicaid and other services. One irksome thing about SSI disability is a law from the 1970's that prevents a recipient from getting more than $20/mo from others (I was sending him money every month and he owned the govt $12000 when he died). Even though he was only getting $900/mo on disability, they wanted to decrease his payment because of what I gave him for food. He also had to get reevaluated every few years to prove he was still unemployable. One can make a small amount of money with SSI disability; my brother was a Salvation Army bellringer some Christmases for which he got a few hundred dollars.

It's been since actual diagnosis August 2022, infected October 2021, with Post Covid Syndrome. I did all the paperwork myself, exhausting, even now difficult to write this. I was denied SSD. Lots of mental and physical symptoms.
Told I may not be able to work in my previous profession (RN), but still able to make enough to live on (1400/month). Too much to fight.

Dealing with SSD was tiring even without health problems. I hope your county/city has social services that can help. First responders to covid deserve to be treated well.

I too applied to SS disability and was denied. Long hauler since April 2021 but my official diagnosis is ME/CFS because I was not able to get a covid test at the time of infection. For my evaluation Social Security sent me to a psychologist rather than a medical doctor, who had never heard of LC or CFS. I appealed the decision and it has just sat dormant for the last six months. Not an easy path to go down ...
