Thank you SO MUCH for the positive vibes! I've read all the posts here and the web re negative side effects which basically has left me in this state. So today I decided to ask for all the positive stuff so I really appreciate your note and advice!
I think that, because Evenity is both anabolic and anti-resorpative, it's typically followed by either Prolia, or a bisphosphonate to lock in the gains. @windyshores and I have both been wondering if, following a drug vacation from a bisphosphonate, it might be possible to go on Tymlos or Forteo. I certainly hope so. Both sound very effective and seem to have milder side effects than Evenity. I'm having my first Evenity injection on Monday, so a long term follow-up plan is on my mind.
I was about 62 at the time and just at 10 years past menopause. I was on the lowest dose of transdermal estradiol, .025, and the standard dose of oral progesterone at 100 mg. All bioidentical. I just increased to .0375 on the estradiol as I think (and my integrative gynecologist thinks) it would be helpful. That's still a very low dose that I am comfortable with. Most doctors will not prescribe HRT as a treatment for osteo but they will prescribe for treatment of hot flashes. My endocrinologist wanted me to go on Prolia after Forteo but I argued that due to my autoimmune issues, that was not an appropriate choice for me so he agreed to the hormones as a follow up.
Thank you so much @teb! I'm weighing different options as a follow up for forteo, so your info and experiences are very helpful.
Have you and your endo considered any of the bisphosphonates as an option? How about Evista? Would like to hear your or your endo's thoughts about these options. Thank you!

I will be going on Evenity after they get my blood tests back and approval by Medicare. Hopefully we both have good results. My doctor is hopeful that studies show following up with Forteo or Tymos since they are also bone building. She personally thinks it would be good protocol.
I did Forteo for two years but I resisted it for about 2-3 years before that. Every specialist I saw (around 4) wanted me on it. I was reluctant. Then I had another fractured vertebrae--my third and I knew I had to do something. Those fractures can be very painful. The doctor who did my kyphoplasty said some of my vertebrae were like "eggshells". His words not mine. So I agreed to go on it. The Forteo wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did develop knee pain and my low back pain seem a bit worse but I managed. Once I ended the Forteo, my knee pain went away and my low back wasn't quite as bad. My bone density improved while I was on it. I was then put on Prolia which I have now been on for about 7 years. As for the injections, I didn't find them bad at all. It just became part of my daily routine.

I really wasn't keen on going on bisphosphonates. I may have to at some point but it wasn't a first choice coming off Forteo. Evista is known to have some side effects. None of doctors felt that it was a great option (but they also didn't think HRT was a great option either!). Again, I wouldn't rule it out completely, especially if I have to go off the hormones at some point, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
I have been told there is no use doing Tymlos or Forteo after Evenity because there is little left to do. Also, Evenity is more anti-resorptive in later months so I wonder if it affects effectiveness. Basically I have been told is you can do Evenity after Tymlos or Forteo but not the other way around.
As for Tymlos or Forteo or Evenity after a break from bisphosphonates, I have been told that is possible but there is a reduction in effectiveness. I read 50% reduction in effect in hip and 40% in spine but I have seen numbers all over the place.

@teb I see. I'm trying to avoid bisphosphonates at this stage but alternatives have downside too. DVT chance from Evista scraes me and I'm so uneducated with regards to HRT. Will do some reading and ask doctors. Many thanks and wish you continued success!
Hey, we're all in this together! Keep us posted on how you do!
Has anyone went on Forteo or Tymos after being on Evenity for a year?

Same as the others that have commented. 2 years ended last fall. A couple minor irritants in the first couple of weeks and nothing else from then on.
