Swimming Melted the Brava ostomy protective seal

Posted by a009507 @a009507, Nov 16, 2023

I went swimming in a chlorinated pool for the first time. The next day saw my protective seal was melted in my pouch. Has anyone else ever experience this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I put the ring over the stoma first. I fing that this hold the pouch somewhat more secure.

Really, I never considered doing that. I attach the ring to the opening on the pouch and then I attached the pouch to my body over the stoma. I've never had it fail, but I haven't gone swimming either. My ostomy is 1 year old this month.

Also I use 1 piece pouches.

I attach the ring to the stoma first. This way I can make sure the stoma is centered on the hole in the ring before applying the appliance and then the pouch.

Read the instructions for application of Brava Coloplast ring and both ways described.
