Has anyone experienced red rash on face after starting Evenity?
I just started Evenity 4 weeks ago. On week three, I noticed red breakouts or rash on my face. My face never breaks out. It’s always been free from acne or rashes. I’m not saying it’s the Evenity but it’s the only new drug I’ve started. Has anyone ever had any rash or noticeable changes on your face with Evenity or other Osteoporosis medications? Please reach out too me if you have. It could be totally unrelated. Yesterday was my second round of Evenity & except for sore arms & a rash on my face I’m doing okay so far. Thanks for letting me vent my concerns.

In reading other reviews I have read that rashes are not uncommon when taking this drug
Thank you! My Dermatologist said you could get rashes from the drug as he further researched the drug. Fortunately after taking Doxycycline for 6 weeks along with a topical ointment, my rashes are much better. Hopefully they won’t come back when I go for my third set of Evenity. I appreciate your feedback. Evenity is the newest drug for Osteoporosis & we are still learning on possible side effects.
Hello everyone, I am updating my post from October 2023. Today I was due to get my 8th shot. My rash/acne started after my 4th shot and steadily got worse each month.
The rash/acne on my face has spread on my face and is tender to the touch. I saw my primary doctor today who a year ago strongly encouraged me to start my Evenity treatments. After seeing my rash/acne on my face today, he said I need to stop because he is concerned about inflammation. He recommended I see my dermatologist, which I am doing on Monday. He said if the dermatologist believes my rash/acne is drug related then he wants me to stop the medication. I explained that I am willing to deal with the rash/acne if it means better bones but again, he was concerned about the inflammation. Also, I am experiencing shaky hands, increased back/neck pain and headaches. And I rarely get headaches. I have a history of being sensitive to medications, so I am grateful I made it this far (I have seen my primary doctor for over 30 years and when he saw my face, he instantly said to stop the medication). If the dermatologist agrees with my primary doctor, then I will follow up with my osteoporosis doctor to determine what other options I have for treating my osteoporosis. I am 58 years old with severe osteoporosis, so I really need another option. I do eat fairly well, and I work out regularly. I even worked with a personal trainer for several months.
I am wondering since the original question was presented to our group if anyone else has any updates?
Saw your post & can sympathize with you. I just started Evenity a few months ago & my face broke out in a red rash. Like you, had flawless skin prior to Evenity. It’s called Roscea, , a red rash. My Dermatologist put me on low dose Doxycycline for 1 month & now on Ivermectin topical cream. It helps but still have a slight red rash on my face. Hope I helped? I’d reach out to a Dermatologist & you should see a big improvement. Please keep me posted. Best of luck, Linda
Thank you, Linda for your response, I am allergic to many antibiotics, so my doctor does not want me taking Doxycycline. My doctor reserves my antibiotic use for severe situations only since there are only a few I can take.
I will keep you updated.
I have a lot of issues with antibiotics as well. I’m allergic too most all of them. Had to stop them because it was just too much. The only reason I agreed because it was a very low dose. Are you sure we’re not related? I would at least try the Soolantra topical cream. It really does help. That’s my maintenance treatment for now. Just a small dab works wonders. You do need a script though by a PCP or Dermatologist. This way no issues with oral antibiotics. It helps with my rash a lot. I wish you the very best!
I developed an eczema type rash around my ears and scalp after 6 months of Evenity. I also had a hacking cough and constant drainage along with brain fog.
I stopped after 8th injection and all that cleared up after a few weeks.
I got a bad rash on my cheek after my second Proia shot I’m due to get another shot in March and if I get the rash again, I will talk to the bone doctor. The rash went away after a couple months.
Good luck! I started on Prolia & had NO side effects. But my doctor put me on Evenity & my face was badly broken out in a red rash. Had to go to a Dermatologist to be put on low dose Docycillin until I had side effects for long term use & he then prescribed Soolantra topical cream which works good. The downside is it’s expensive. But what drug isn’t? Hope your rash gets better. Best of luck on Prolia. My dentist took me off it for dental issues. Please keep me posted. LAB
Rash is signaled in the clinical trials as an allergic reaction to the medication. It seems to be an indication that you shouldn't take the medication, but so many patients experience it initally and not in later injections.
