Anyone Heard of Pirenzepine for Small Fiber Neuropathy?

Posted by cwallen9 @cwallen9, Jan 28, 2019

I just read articles about a drug called Pirenzepine that is being studied to help heal nerve damage. It is being touted as a cure for small fiber neuropathy. I think it is still in the study phase, but is used for other things such as stomach ulcers.

Not yet, but doing research on just where I can purchase and eager to talk to others who have found and applied pirenzepine.

I believe it is available from the company on a compassionate use basis. If so, your MD will have to fill out a form. Contact the company mentioned above to get info.
If you do use it, please let us know how well (or not) it works.

Noticed there were many reports from people who were going to compound their own pirenzepine (phase 2 trials - regenerates peripheral nerves) but no follow-up comments. Is there anyone out there who can add to this discussion?

Is there a way I can get in this clinical trial? I have had peripheral neuropathy for 15 plus years? Thank you.

Here's a page that shows the clinical trials. You will need to check with the contacts listed - https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04786340

Are you aware of any published "results" or summary of clinical trials for pirenzepine known? I find abstracts on proposed trials but no summary.

I actually contacted the owner of the company that was to be testing that drug. I am not sure they were able to get the funds to complete the studies. My doctor said he has not heard of anything that cures neuropathy as of yet.

Just a suggestion:
Pirenzipine is described as a "muscarinic antagonist”. Perhaps there are other meds in this class that are worth looking into as well
