Hi. My appendix burst when I was 6yr old, and the surgical team left gauze in me, so a 2nd surgery was required. I had tuboovarianplasty at age 30. A laparoscopy at age 50 found tons of adhesions. My 1st SBO was 1 and a half yr ago at age 63, and I am in for my 5th right now!The good surgeons here correctly refuse to operate until I am really bad. So, feeling pretty deesperate, I plan to seek holistic PT treatment at Clear Passage. Anybody else know of them?

ginpene I was wondering if you went ahead with the clear passage therapy? I am also considering the therapy but it is expensive and I don't want to spend all that money and not really get what I am paying for. thanks @striplingmom

I was hospitalized on December 18th after a cat scan showed that I had a small bowel obstruction. Since then I am learning to eat smaller meals and a low fiber diet. I keep a journal of what I eat and how often I am passing stools and gas. What concerns me is that since it happened my stomach is always uncomfortable. Does this ever stop? The uncomfortable feeling? Sometimes it's a pain like when you drink to much water on am empty stomach then exercise, that sharp pain in the left side of my stomach. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi Shaleenv,
I don't know anything about what you had done, but I think since you have pain that you better see your doctor as soon as you can. It may be nothing except a reaction to your procedure but it's better to be on the safe side and not take chances with your health. Also say a prayer to God and ask for help with this situation. I will say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.

In 2019 I had a small bowel obstruction and had to have 2 surgeries and now I only have 2ft of my small intestines left, I have my large intestines still.
If you still having pain you should go back to your doctor or back to the hospital because it's not normal.

I did a follow up with my surgeon, even though he ended up not doing surgery, and he told me that it's normal. I asked him to refer me to the mayo clinic, they have accepted me but are waiting to schedule me on e they get more of my records. I also have a follow up with my regular doctor on Tuesday and I am going to tell her as well. It is more just discomfort than pain. I did a bowel test yesterday and it seems to have helped. I feel like I live in fear of food now. Everytime I pass gas or make a bowel movement I am thanking the Lord.

Thank you for the prayers they are much needed and appreciated. I do pray and I thank God that I am still here and he is helping me through this. I had a laparoscopic tubal in 2010, then a hernia repair in 2011 and in 2012 they tried to do a laparoscopic hysterectomy but due the adhesions caused by the mesh they couldn't get through and had to do an open procedure. Now here I am 2024 was my first SBO and it scared me pretty bad. The surgeon said he does surgery as a last resort. I really don't want to have surgery in my small town again anyways, that's why I have asked him to refer me to the mayo clinic in Phoenix. I am trying to get in to a nutritionist to help me with doing a low fiber diet, everyone seems to agree that is the best way to help decrease the problems.

It sounds like you are doing the right things for your situation. That's good that you pray. God will handle everything for you. By the way, what does SBO mean?
I'll keep praying for you.

It's a small bowel obstruction. They are assuming it is caused by adhesions, scar tissue, from my previous surgeries years ago.

I have the same
My small intestines are very narrow
Had surgery to untwist it
Then went to a Myofascial professional who taught me how to keep my very sluggish bowels open and moving. I do this every day
First start by massaging in counterclockwise circles the illiocecal sp? Valve at bottom right of intestines , then keep going up to the right then under the ribs ..at the center of V in rib cage there is another valve. Massage under rib cage .focus on that then keep going and gently dig fingers in and massage & activate large intestine
You are following the direction that the intestines flow. At the end put your fingers on your belly button and twist counter clockwise.
Keep doing the entire procedure until you feel/hear them gurgle.
Repeat the entire thing gently but firmly
Then massage belly lightly
It will start to produce gas and you will know it is activated !
I also take a lower bowel stimulator by Natures Sunshine when I am really bound up. Warm prune juice too
I have kept my bowels moving for 7 years AVOIDING a trip to the hospital with an NG tube in me!
Make sure that you are laying back and relaxed when you do this xo
