Happy National Volunteer Week! Hopefully each of you are doing well, staying healthy, and perhaps even soaking up some of the beautiful sunshine outdoors.

We are extremely disappointed that we can’t celebrate this special week with you in the volunteer offices. Usually we get to enjoy special treats and say “thank you!” in person. Additionally, we regret to share that in response to the COVID-19 situation, we need to cancel our annual recognition event this year. Although this is sad to share, please know it is to keep you safe and your safety is of upmost importance to us.

While this pandemic has introduced some challenges, we are finding innovative ways to adapt, and we refused to have this week pass by without finding a creative way to express our thanks. By now you should all have received a special thank you card from Mayo Clinic Volunteer Programs staff in the mail. Furthermore, we wanted other Mayo staff across the Rochester campus to be able to say “thank you!” as well. Please click on the Kudoboard link to read staff thank yous. It reinforces how much everyone misses the volunteers and appreciates all you contribute to the team. Mayo Clinic is simply not the same without you!

You are valued. You are appreciated. And we look forward to when we can have you safely return to campus.

Sincerely,

Mayo Clinic Volunteer Programs staff

@cathyfuhs, I couldn't agree more. Volunteering is a labor of love. Until you can return to volunteer physically at Mayo Clinic, why not do the great work you do virtually. Here's how:

1. Select a group or groups from Mayo Clinic Connect's group directory here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/groups/
2. Follow the group.
3. Choose a topic of interest and read the post in the relevant discussion.
4. Reply where you can offer support, knowledge and experience.
