Dr. P James Dyck, a neurologist at Mayo Clinic, discusses Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves. Tingling and weakness in the arms and legs are usually the first symptoms. These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body, so most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive supportive treatment.
