Great article! My husband has MCI. He uses the Memory Support System religiously. He wakes up early and the first thing he does it to look at his planner for the day. I'll share a funny story. We had family visitors for the weekend, then went with friends to a play on Sunday. I was exhausted and slept late on Monday. But a little before 8am, my husband came in, woke me up and said "Get dressed. You have an appointment at Mayo." Since he woke me up, I was able to get to my Mammogram appointment - which I had completely forgotten - on time! This was SO out of character for me, and my husband was so proud that he saved the day. The next morning when we woke up, he said "I'd better check my planner to see if you have any appointments today." He LOVED being the one to remind me of my appointment! We are both big fans of HABIT and the memory support system.
LOVE this! Way to go Ernie! 🙂 Thanks Debbra
I had a Stroke, which was affected my entire Right Hemisphere! I therefore have memory issues and many other Cognitive Deficits; which put me at risk for other and more severe deficits as I become older! I find it great, that your Husband has the memory issue, but was the one to awaken you in time for your important Mammogram-BRAVO!! It's great when others provide us with techniques and other little helpful hints to make us remember appointments, shopping lists, etcetera!
