Kinesio Taping - The Clinic Health Group

We recently  discussed the potential benefit of Kinesio Taping (KT) for hypermobility. In this post we go further to discuss some more basic principles of KT use.

Some basic principles in application of K-tape to keep in mind are:

  1. Generally speaking, a good practice is to cut the corners off of the ends of the strip of tape so these edges do not lift by coming into contact with clothing.
  2. You'll want to avoid placing any stretch on approximately 20% of the length at either end to allow the ends of the tape to adhere firmly to the skin. The more you stretch the tape on the ends when flattening down to the skin may allow for the tape to lift away, especially during movement.

Many videos exist online such as youtube among other  platforms. You can search for physical therapists or athletic trainers or other credentialed medical practitioners or massage therapists who give many examples of different taping techniques and strategies. Some examples conditions can include neck pain, rotator cuff, posture, and so on. Tapes can be found  online  or in your local pharmacy. Please add your comments below!
