We are well underway with our primary research targets for this year. We will share the progress on those projects here in the near future. As described in an earlier post (EDS Research at Mayo Clinic), this first goal is related to better understanding sex differences of hypermobile EDS and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). In the meantime, we want to also share updates on research taking place at other locations. EDS/HSD is a shared research interest by many, who in collaboration advance our collective understanding all the better. In October 2020, the Ehlers-Danlos Society held a conference via Project ECHO to present up to date reviews and research now featured in the latest Special Issue of the American Journal of Medical Genetics, published this month. Topics include general overviews as well as review and research articles on pain, orthopedic conditions, mast cell activation, psychological issues, dysautonomia, oral/throat/voice issues, respiratory and GI issues as well as urogynecological and obstetric complications. There is no cost or subscription necessary to access the articles found here: Wiley Online Library
In our next posts, we will dig a bit deeper into some common GI complications of EDS/HSD. Stay tuned!
