Hi @bunnykfl, I've had PMR twice and was able to taper off of prednisone both times...

I was 52 when PMR was diagnosed and treated with Prednisone for 12 years. PMR never...
PMR never went into remission during ... I was on Actemra (tocilizumab) at 65 ... Actemra seems to work for all my autoimmune ... PMR is still being treated with Actemra ... instead of Prednisone.

My rheumatologist says it is "unlikely" that I will get off Actemra unless it stops working....

Appears that everyone reacts differently to certain combinations of drugs. Have GCA and treated for it...
On Prednisone from Jan to end of August ... in 2024 and now on Actemra in August ... has recovered from this or gone into remission ... or had remission and it came back.

PMR was treated with prednisone for 12 years and I never did achieve a lasting remission....
and I never did achieve a lasting remission ... When Actemra was tried, I achieved remission ... when I don't receive a monthly Actemra ... I need long term treatment with Actemra ... I do a monthly infusion of Actemra instead
