I too felt it was extensive, especially for a non cancerous polyp in my appendix. Surgeon...
explained it was better to remove more vs ... cancer (guess it's like having a mastectomy ... vs lumpectomy).

I, too, wrangled with the idea of mastectomy ... vs. lumpectomy but all MDs and research ... indicated lumpectomy had same outcome ... outcomes with the research they have, mastectomy ... told chance for re-excision after lumpectomy

surgeon had me ready for in-out of Lumpectomy ... older sister did not regret having lumpectomy ... later wish she had having done double vs ... single mastectomy as the anxiety surrounding ... quality of life going forward and double mastectomy
