What really helped me with tapering slowly was my rheumatologist providing prescriptions for the 1 mg...
What really helped me with tapering ... for the 1 mg as well as the 2.5 mg prednisone ... My first round with PMR took six months ... 1/2 mg until I was finally able to taper ... completely off of prednisone.

My PMR is currently in remission but ... Have you tried going down in your prednisone ... I had trouble tapering below 1 mg for ... 1 mg tablets to see if that helped tapering ... months before I was finally able to taper

@munchie, I really don't think anyone doctor or patient really knows the answer to your question....
I've had two occurrences of PMR ... lasted 3 and half years before I could taper ... off of the 20 mg prednisone used at ... last 1 and half years before I could taper ... be achieved with a 15-mg/d dose of prednisone
