The Dolores Jean Lavins Center for Humanities in Medicine is proud to sponsor the ninth volume of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine Creative Arts Publication, The Tempest 2023.
The Tempest is a collection of poetry, prose and visual art meant to illustrate the growth of a medical student into a medical professional. Now in its ninth year, The Tempest has grown not only in content, but also in its
student contributors from across the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Sciences, and its readership across the Mayo Clinic and beyond. All work is original and contributed by students.
Congratulations to the Editor in Chief, Sherry Zhou and the Editorial team of: Patrick Brennan, Yeonsoo Sarah Lee, Diana Hla, Emily Stickney and Guozhen (Gordon) Xie.
From Editor in Chief, Sherry Zhou: “Shoulder to shoulder we have stood, facing and weathering the storms together, as peers, as a family, as an institution, and as a community. We have built resilience and strength from teamwork. We have found emotional and physical healing in our friendships. We now share our stories in this edition of The Tempest. We invite you to join us on this storm chase celebrating these snippets from the imaginations and lives of our students in the clinic, in the classroom, beyond, and within."
We are honored to have the opportunity to help foster original works by these future leaders in the practice of medicine.
