Jul 24, 2016 · Need help! Depression and anxiety in Depression & Anxiety

@pirateking I went through acute withdrawal with Ativan at one time and it took a good week to get over the physical feelings….crawly skin, feeling like you want to run or just shake it off and this severe anxiety. I’m not a pharmacist so I don’t know the half lifes of addicting drugs meaning how long it stays in your system. I do believe Klonopin stays in your body longer than Ativan. Again, it would depend on the dose you were taking but it would probably take longer than Ativan. Are you still taking the Ativan? If so you should be feeling better soon. When my doctor starts a new med to substitute for another he titrates the new one up slowly and titrates the one you want to get off slowly. Then you don’t notice you changed unless you have side effects. I hope you continue to feel better. If your doctor doesn’t know these basic techniques you may want to find another one.

@pirateking I have been on Klonopin for many years now as a part of my medical treatment of Major Depression and anxiety disorder. I am on 0.5 mg at bedtime and it’s working well. I was on Buspar twice in my lifetime and it did not work for me at all. You have a new doctor who is getting to know you. Many doctors are cautious about giving benzodiazepines like Klonopin because they are addicting. In my opinion your Klonopin was titrated too fast. I wonder why she didn’t go back to the klonopin and why increase the Lexapro if you were feeling OK. Ativan is shorter acting and maybe it’s not enough. At any rate you look to me like you are showing signs of benzo withdrawal. You need to see your doctor again and see what she can do to fix the problem. Be safe and call for help if you are in a suicidal phase.

Self medicate with what? I have a prescription for Ambien for sleep as needed which I don’t take that often as these meds are addicting.

Sorry, I can’t help with this because I dread getting up in the morning. It is my time to procrastinate. The longer I stay the worse it gets. Eventually I get up. I am retired now so I don’t have a set time to get up unless I have something scheduled for the day. What I have found helpful is setting my alarm for 10 minutes before I want to get up and allow myself to hit the snooze button only once. When it does off again I throw my legs over the side of the bed and get up. It works for me.

Jul 20, 2016 · Does Mental Illness Run in Your Family? in Mental Health

@liz223 You are blessed to have Jesus in your life. Anyone recovering from any illness or addiction basically follows the ten steps to recovery. It is even better to accept Christ as your Savior who died on the cross for our sins so we might have eternal life. Believe that He is here to help us in times of trial but because of original sin He will not let you out of situations that you have control of or caused yourself. Depression I find is very tough because people, even born agains, believe that the Bibles says to follow Him and pretty much excess drink or mental illness is wrong. True Christians serve the Lord, not just from fear, or to gain favor but out of sheer love and gratitude.
I meet half way because especially in depression that can be proven inherited it is a life long struggle to overcome. With anti depressants, continued therapy and God;’s love for me is what keeps me going.

Jul 15, 2016 · (Chronic kidney disease stage 3?!).Confused! in Kidney & Bladder

I always attributed my CKD stage two to being on antidepressants for 25 years or so. My psychiatrist says no but offers no explanation. I used to take a lot of ibuprofen for headaches and back pain and thought this was the reason. I recently read an article about proton pump inhibitors which I have been on for at least 10 years if not more. I was put on aciphex because of an esophageal ulcer and had never been taken off. I have a diagnosis of GERD now. The article I read (wish I had saved it) said being on PPI’s for exzteded periods of time can cause kidney damage. After I read this article, without consulting my GE, I stopped my PPI and increased my water intake. All of the labels on PPI’s say use for no longer than two weeks. Well I stayed on because I still have reflux. However I try to stay away from foods and drinks that cause heartburn and take Tums infrequently as needed. My last creat and BUN improved and my GFR went up 2 points. I am still in the “abnormal” lab range for these results but there was improvement. I try to stay away from ibuprofen as much as I can. I do plan on seeing my GE this fall and getting his opinion and if recommended another chem panel drawn. My neph “dismissed” me too as if I have nothing to worry about.

Jul 7, 2016 · Is there a generic version of Cymbalta 60mg yet? in Depression & Anxiety

I have taken duloxitine 120 mg. daily for over 6 months now and my mood has improved greatly. I never took anything but generic. My capsule is navy blue and army green. Please note that different dosages of the same medication will be a different color. I have been on every anti–depressant in the book (except the newest drugs, and the MAOI’s?) and I have responded to some but they didn’t last. I actually feel almost normal again on this. I have constipation which has worsened since I’m on duloxitine but I also have IBS so that may be why. Just as a side note, my physician is very good with combining drugs to get an added effect. I’m also on Wellbutrin 200mg in AM and in early afternoon.

It’s a fairly uncommon blue eyed white Ragdoll kitten that I will be getting this fall. He won’t be born until August.
