Hello, I ditto @cairnmama. I began Prolia in July 2016 at 67 years of age, without side effects, however I believe the vitamins I take also are helping with hip stiffness although I've have reduced my walk activity. The doc was not satisfied with my 'moderate' bone density scan, thus I take Prolia. In Canada the drug store can't give you the injection. I must pick up my order, immediately go to the nurse at doc's office. She administers the injection in the muscle. It is a bit painful. It must be kept cold (sometimes I take a small cooler). The next 6-month injection is in the alternate arm. Hope you find this useful.
@windwalker; glad to hear you're well and able to go on trips. In answer to your question no, I don't have bronchiectasis as well. I also realize physicians do not know more about mac however, doc said he would not put me back on the Big 3 again. Thanks for your comments.
Prolia is an injection. What of breast cancer risk. I have no idea. In my two opinions, medicine is beneficial, however short term. Would 20 years research answer my question? I doubt it. Secondly, I want to live a ripe old age. It's a risk I take right now until proven otherwise.
Terri wrote: 'The Big 3 cocktail does not get rid of mac, it knocks it down to an undetectable level, and then years later, it is usually back'. Oh no. May I ask for follow up please? I cannot leave things to chance here as I'm trying my best to avoid spots to catch the same sick mac illness again. Therefore, what's next? We'll always live with it, other than lung surgery, or new research?
lauriefrancis, I'm glad to hear you've booked respirologist appt. in June. My Toronto doc successfully gave me treatment for MAC. It is true doc's don't know much about Mac, but I recommend find out if respirology doctors are qualified equally in bronchiectasis inclusive. I trust they also will get to the bottom of her bloated and painful stomach. It is possible she may have hernia. Best of care.
hello, you may want to 'Google' Game Ready. If you can afford to rent a machine called Game Ready,
It will help with swelling. It cost my x-colleague $565 for 2 weeks rental (Canadian), worth every penny, she said and insurance paid half.
She is also on disability.
I wanted to let you know.
