Sep 27, 2018 · Getting Off of Omeprazole in Digestive Health

I have a chronic hparse voice, too. The ENT scooped me, said everything checked out fine, wanted to prescribe omeprozole, but I already take it after a HORRIBLE bout of diverticulitis 3 years ago, diagnosed as GERD. But, I never get heartburn. My pain is a lot lower, in the belly. Now what? Come back in 3 months. Zeeze! Now what?

Saludos, I have been advised by my Integrative Medicine doctor to eliminate all nightshades from my diet which is extremely difficult but helps a lot. No potato, chile, tomato, eggplant, etc. Also, he prescribed Omega 3 (fish oil) 4,000 mg a day, and 3,000 mg of tumeric a day (take with black pepper). For 2 years on this elimination diet, I definitely earned some relief! However, I have not been following this diet for the last couple of months. I just could not let another growing season pass without locally grown fresh tomatos and fresh roasted green chile from the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico! The dominant cultural cuisine along with a new job cooking for a young Indian family their traditional dishes heavy on the nightshades, tomatos, eggplant, chiles, potatos, curries. I am paying dearly . . . I spent most of the weekend in bed in extreme pain all over my whole body, mouth sores, gastric distress, foreign objects in the eye sensation, even an ear ache! I am resolved to clean up my diet again starting today. As, the only thing I can control in this life, is what I put into my mouth.

Hi, I have experienced changes in hair growth; most noteably, excessive hair loss beginning in my early 20s and coinciding with the onset of one of several auto-immune disorders diagnosed over the following 30 years. I have almost no body hair. I hardly ever have to shave my legs as there are only 5 or so on each leg, same goes for under the arms. It did not used to be like this. And I can hardly complain about that! But — most troublesome is the reoccurring cycle of all over excessive shedding of the hair on my scalp that is increasingly rapid cycling. Every 5, to 2 years now, I have to cut my hair very short to accomodate the extreme thinning. And the growth is so slow I hardly need haircuts at all! My doctors won’t address it; I guess I will have to go completely bald to get any medical treatment — VERY FRUSTRATING — except for my optometrist who is treating my dry eyes and blephoritis and eyelash loss (auto-immune disorder) with the eye drops, Xiidra, which has helped along with diligent lid hygiene and hot packs. I also have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis which I have been treating with biologics (immuno-suppressants) for 15+ years. Stress is a major problem and though I have been learning and implementing CBT to manage stress more effectively, I have not been relieved of the excessive shedding and thinning. At what point will the hair on my scalp just stop growing back, like most of the hair on the rest of my body? My hairdresser told me of something his aunt tried: put purple onions into your favorite shampoo and let them ferment. Here in the US Southwest, here is also another “natural” folk remedy; shampoos with “yerba de la negrita”. It helped me once, 25 years ago, but not since. I have not yet tried the onion . . . cannot seem to muster the faith.

Jun 4, 2017 · Multiple Myeloma in Blood Cancers & Disorders

I am currently being worked up for multiple myeloma. Makes a lot of sense given my history, symptoms, and signs. Please advise me of the most important things to remember going forward. I feel so very confused. Something is very wrong with my health and it is not just a relapse of disabling psoriatic arthritis i’ve been treating with biologics for the last 15 years years continiously, up until last Oct, 2016, when my rheumatologist said “no more biologics until you are rediagnosed due to increased chronic infections over the previous 1-2 years”. 40 ccs of “abnormal” fluid was drained from my knee a month ago, i was given the go ahead to resume a biologic, but more and more tests have been ordered. And i keep getting sick. Over six months without the immune suppressing biologic and i still got one “flu” right after the next. Strange episodes of extreme pain all over fatigue, fever, throwing up, disorientation. And extreme, persistent pain in my right elbow, right in the bone! Mouth sores. Chronic insomnia. I have over 7 specialists and no clue what is really wrong with me! Constant aches and pains everywhere, pain, and more pain!
