Dec 23, 2017 · When is an angiogram called for? in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

Hi jchp. I can’t offer much feedback cause I don’t have Coronary Artery Disease, but I had a Nuclear Stress done not too long ago for Chest Pain that’s been pretty unbareable at times, and I have Apical HCM, so it’s hard to tell if something is wrong unless the chest pain gets super bad. It got so bad it felt like I was hit in the chest by a semi or a train. Anyways I when I had the Nuclear Stress Test done the Cardiologist said that there was a spot they found that was causing lack of blood flow to my heart but they don’t know if it’s a blockage so the only thing to do is to take it to the next step & that was to have an Angiogram, so I had an Angiogram done & it turned out that there was no blockages or plaque. So I’m thinking it was probably HCM related, but unfortunately I can’t really afford to see my Cardiologist Specialist at the Mayo Clinic so I just gotta live with it for now. I really hope you do find some answers. I know exactly how it feels to be in the dark about what’s going on…it sux!

Jun 24, 2017 · HCM-ers: Introduce yourself or just say hi in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

I hope surgery works for you, since mine is non obstructive I don’t think I have that option, besides I don’t really wanna have surgery anyways, to risky I think. But with yours, since you have HCOM it’s probably better than the alternative. Hope everything goes well.

Mar 8, 2017 · Depression in Heart Disease in Heart & Blood Health

Well I’ll try to keep this kinda attitude but there are times when I’m really ill that I can’t. Cause lately I’ve been sick off & on. And unfortunately I can’t afford treatment.Been waking up at night with chest pain again, only thing I can do is take my nitro. And lately my blood pressure has been way too low. My Doctor lowered dose of my Metroprolol pill that I take at night, but that hasn’t helped bring my bp back to normal. I do have to go back soon for a regular checkup, and when that happens I’m gonna let her know it hasn’t changed, but that can create another set of problems, cause if my medication gets lowered I’m afraid my Blood Pressure will go back up, and that’s when the bad chest pain happens all the time and the breathing problems. But I try to keep a positive attitude when I can.

Depression can be bad for the health specially if you get too angry or upset about it. Cause for me my Blood Pressure Spikes up High if I get really angry or overly upset. And that’s even with medicine, emotions can be a dangerous combination if they get out of control so it’s best to find a way to cope with that. Anyways I hope the blog or something here works for your son.

I forgot to mention before, my Cardiomyopathy isn’t as advanced as your son so I’m not as restricted, but I completely understand how your son must feel too, even though I’m not in Heart Failure, I’m limited on how much excercise I can do, and when it comes to housework I get exhausted really fast & the chest pain can be unbareable at times, and sometimes I get so depressed about it I just wanna die, but then I remember that I have so many ppl that love me and it gives me a reason to wanna keep on living. And I hope that your son thinks about those things too, and if he doesn’t remind him of how many ppl that need him in their lives and love him. It will help him have a reason to keep on fighting to survive.

Hi Jeffer. I’m sorry about your son’s two diagnoses. I was diagnosed with Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. I’ve also suffered from Depression, but for me the Depression has been a life long battle since I was a teenager. All I can tell you is to be there for him & supportive. It’s really all you can do, and try & help him relax, maybe bring something to the hospital that will help calm him down, like something he likes to do, a hobby such as a game, books or something else that would keep him occupied and then maybe he’ll spend less time on lashing out at the doctors and start focusing on something that makes him happy instead. I know when I had to go to the Mayo Clinic for testing, I kept myself busy by bringing my laptop along and playing games when I wasn’t in appointments, it really helped pass the time. And also because I absolutely love gaming.
