Jul 7, 2013 · Chiari Malformation type 1 in Brain & Nervous System

Anorwalk, I know what you are going through!! I had and was diagnosed with the same problem and symptoms back 3 years ago. I couldn’t get any answers from my doctors, so I decided to see a specialist. I had this special MRI done on my brain. The next week I had surgery, I had 95% blockage in my brain. They removed part of the back of my scull for circulation. Two weeks after surgery had complications and contracted spinal menengitis, I was very sick, lost 30 pounds in 4 days and was in the hospital for 14. During my menengitis, The back of my head swelled severely and they thought they might have to go back in and remove the pressure. The specialist gave me some sort of antibiotics which brought the swelling down. After the surgery I still have periodic headaches, some short term memory loss, and comprehension which is all normal after surgery. So far I have been OK. I have a friend who had three surgeries from chiari, he went to the same doctor as I did. I do not mean to scare you, I am sorry if I am. If I were you get two opinions from doctors that know about it, and if they both agree, see what hey have to say! If it is bad take care of it right away!! You will be fine!! I was scared at first, but now I am glad I did it! Recovery takes time, but then it’s over! If you need to talk about this, I am here for you! I have been there!! I hope this information helps! Let me know, hope to hear from you soon!

Jun 24, 2013 · Varicous veins/ Blood clots in Blood Cancers & Disorders

Need some suggesstions. I have a huge varicous vein on the back of my right leg. I have had it for several years. I have noticed that it is getting bigger and gets swollen from time to time. It is beginning to spread into smaller veins down the back of my leg. It is painful, off and on. I hae also noticed my leg tends to get numb. I spoke to my primary doctor about this. He wants to refer me to a specialist. Has anyone experienced this before? How can you tell if it is a blot clot etc?
Any suggesstions would be of help! Thank you!

My rheumatoligist took me off of neurontin, I couldn’t stand the side effects! He referred me to a specialist who does holistic therapy. No sure if this will work or not. Have you ever tried accupunchure?

May 3, 2013 · C-diff infectios disease in Digestive Health

Went to the GI doctor today! He took me off my probobiotics, finished w/ the vanco, and is trying a fiber supplement. He said that I could be lactous intolerant. No dairy products/ etc. Getting my stool test again in 3 weeks, to test for c-diff again! Thaks for the reply!

Thank you for the reply, I do not get alot of feedback on this site for those who have or had c-diff. This is my third relapse. I have been on oral vanco taper for the last 10 weeks. I see my GI doctor today. Still having symptoms. I am also seeing a disease specialist now. It has been frustrating. I lost my home and my job over this illness. I have not worked since last March 2012. The doctors say it could be up to two years for me to feel 100%. There is no guarantee that I won’t relapse again. My disease doctor says since I relapsed 3 times w/ in a year, more than likely I could relapse again!
