Take it one step at a time. Be kind to yourself, make a list everyday
I found it helpful to have several notebooks to keep running lists cause my memory was really affected and lists kept me on track. Make time for meditation but keep meditation positive,

I'm my experience, it doesn't have to be a permanent state, I've had depression a couple different times and had full recovery each time. Most recently in 2010 for about a year, a had a .great therapist, minimal medication, daily meditation, life coach, and focused on my resources, was able to find how I had inner conflict w my main life values and lies I was believing
about my life. I was able to turn around to normal

For sure consult Dr. I had a bad reaction to statins and choose not y take. Body became very weak, couldn't walk up stairs or work in garden. I'm much better now, I just take Ubiquinol coq10 n magnesium, every day, been holding good for 10 yrs since incedent. Perfect natural path, but it's not fr everyone

Suggest you research natural, herbal options, they are there and research shows they are successful, w no side effects, or minimum side effects. Dr Becker is a GP/natrolpath , also Dr Amen has had great success says most mental issues are curable,, not just tolerated.but big pharma doesn't want Americans to know.. Google Dr Amen, do your research

Be persistent at putting off the neg and make your focus kindness love, understanding, it's worth it, I remember clearly the day I decided I was going t focus on the better and stop w the negitive yrs ago. The negatives are triggers that are easy t fall into,. The triggers are a signal to stop and find a different way , it's a battle for the mind and your future.

It's not our place to judge others or compare, this only leads to eitherpride or lowering ourself esteem. Choose to accept yourself as good enough for you, and know your are God's creation, let God be your validation and affirmation, Stop looking for affirmation thro others, and love yourself.

Knowing your identity, who you really are, who you were made to be makes all the difference. It gives a purpose to your life and a strength to the soul, during hard times you can stand strong in the truth of who you know your self to be and find peace when others disparage you. Knowing how t validate and affirm yourself thro God most high is healing t the soul.

It seems to me we are putting an expectation on the individual to affirm and validate us and they may not have it in them t meet that need, when we come in neediness other sense that and usually know it is a need they cannot be meet, so the result is to turn away, rejection to protect self. Then we take that rejection personally and it hurts. We need t find healthy ways to get our needs met, for me it's a spiritual path.
