Sun, Feb 23 8:00am · Osteoporosis in Bones, Joints & Muscles

I believe I am in the minority here but how can anyone possibly think that they no more than a doctor who has studied medicine for 9+ years as well as thousands of hours of research? Every medication has possible side effects but they are known. A concoction made by a pharmacist & recommended by a nutritionist (with a combined 4 years of study) without known side effects is playing with your life. 🙂

Wed, Feb 12 7:57pm · Osteoporosis treatment or strontium citrate? in Bones, Joints & Muscles

Hi all. I‘’m a bit confused – some of the comments I read talk about research, do you really think that you can do enough research & separate fact from fiction and will know better than a physician who went through undergrad, med school, residency & perhaps a fellowship? I think the bigger problem is a lack of confidence in the medical & research world. To those that comment on the side effects of the meds, has your physician reported it? If not, why not. Why isn’t your doc altering your meds when you complain? I feel all of your pain as I have been there & continue to travel down that road but, I trust my medical team to be watching out for me. This is your life, do what’s best 🙂

The first few r a bit frightening but there is really no pain. U get used to it. It’s well worth it. The pens need to b refrigerated so if U travel it’s a pain. U get a travel case w ice to keep it cool.

My understanding is that Prolia is the “latest & greatest”. I have been on Forteo (daily injections into abdomen), Reclast (~1hr infusion once a year) & now Prolia (injection into abdomen 2x a year). It’s impossible for me to tell if I have pain side effects due to all my “normal” pain. I have NOT had any bone cancer related issues. BTW – since osteoporosis was discovered in 2008, my score has gone from -3.1 to -4.4. None of these treatments are a miracle drug but I will continue to try every Medically approved treatment available.

If anyone believes it is better to have a fracture then to take a medication that will hopefully keep you from fracturing a bone bc of a minimal risk of side effects, my opinion is that U really need to sit down and think about it. Fractures can lead to surgery, which may lead to infection & pain. That’s a certainty. Hope this helps in any way & that I did not offend anyone. 🙂

I am a 63 yo male with a T-Score of -4.4. Any males out there? I have had 17 spinal fusions due to osteoporosis. I am fused from C4-C7 & T12-S3 all since 2008 & have been on every treatment there is. Most recent was Prolia in 2017 but had to stop because of multiple surgeries. I had no side effects other then there can be very minimal dental work. Just start Prolia a week ago. I am not overly hopeful about the results but will know in another week after blood work. Keep smiling 🙂

Sep 23, 2019 · Chronic Pain members - Welcome, please introduce yourself in Chronic Pain

Hi. I have been on Lyrica since it's trial @ HSS. Approximately 2008. I have never suffered any side effects except those on my wallet. Now that there is a generic, that costs way less, Medicare won't approve it!
