Sun, May 12 8:34pm · Viagra Becoming Less Effective -- 81 year-old Healthy White Male in Men's Health

Hi Jake —

Yes. I do live in California. Fortunately, cost is not an issue for me since my HMO provides Sildenafil (Viagra) to me very inexpensively. My last order of 135 20mg tablets cost $8.35. The pricing was equally good with Cialis when they offered that. They seem to stick with one ED med at a time — I guess the one they get from the manufacturer at the best price. In the long haul, all three are essentially the same in terms of effect, except for the longer-lasting character of Cialis..

Hello DT78 —

For years I have successfully eliminated Jock Itch by DAILY use of antifungal POWDER — not cream or ointment — that has Miconazole Nitrate 2% as the active ingredient. One brand name is Zeasorb-AF (Stiefel Laboratories, Coral Gables, FL). There are a number of others. My theory is KEEP IT DRY — fungi love moist, humid areas. The powder seems to work perfectly for me. Give it a try. And continue using it even after the rash clears up.

Hello Leonard —

Thanks for your replies. It isn't that Viagra has stopped working — it's just not as effective as it once was. Part of the change is due to age, I'm sure. My eating schedule around taking Viagra has always been a challenge. I've more or less settled on taking Sildenafil (Viagra) on an empty stomach about 90 minutes before a planned encounter and then eating something about an hour after taking it.

I've been taking 60mg or 80mg — have never tried 100mg. It's not clear to me that taking more makes a big difference. My Sildenafil prescription is filled with 20mg tablets, hence the dosages I've mentioned here. I have taken Levitra and Cialis in the past — all three meds seem to work about the same for me. Right now my HMO offers Sildenafil, so I'll stick with that for the time being.

If you or others have additional thoughts or suggestions, I'm listening!

I've taken Sildenafil (Viagra) for about 20 years. It has recently become less effective in producing hard erections. Any thoughts, suggestions, observations will be greatly appreciated.
