Wed, Mar 4 6:52pm · Anyone here dealing with peripheral neuropathy? in Neuropathy

Hi all I have been taking 2700mg of gabapentin a day for a long time, I have been told by doctors that a person can go higher. Are there side effects and possible long term issues, sure, but when my hands or feet are burning, especially at 2 am, I am glad I take it. neuropathy is a nightmare and I am not worried about 10 years from now when I am suffering today. just my two cents, best wishes to you all.

I am sorry you are in so much pain, i wish i had some magic answers but i don't. I do put foot creme on at night and it does cool my feet off and takes away the burning needle feeling. Otherwise I just try to stay active, best wishes to you, I hope you find relief soon.

I have had 8 of them over the course of 6 years, all but one have helped. No guarantee of course, but I would get one if you can, they will not cure your back issue, but the relief you hopefully get will make one worth it, good luck. Also, the relief does not last forever, reason for my 8, but any relief is helpful

I have had a half a dozen emg tests so I know them well. I don't want to say too much because sometimes knowing too much is not good. getting stuck with needles is no fun of course, but the process is manageable. I would just say to you while you are getting it done is to have the mindset that this test may help get you some answers. Hopefully that will keep you going while you endure some discomfort. Good luck to you.

I currently take 2700mg a day of gabapentin. It helps with my nueropathy episodes which come on without warning. Prior to taking the medicine my episodes would last up to an hour or so, now they last maybe 10 to 15 minutes. So for me the medicene has helped. My biggest side affect is being tired, but I was not getting any sleep before so being tired seems like a normal conditionl to me. I don't like taking any kind of medication, but severe pain and cramping from Nueropathy aren't much fun either. For me it is worth it for now, time will tell if I continue at this pace, but I do know this, when I want to cut my foot off from Nueropathy pain, I am glad it is available to me to cut the edge off, be well all.

May 20, 2019 · Disk replacement & spinal fusion (L4-L5): Post-op concerns in Spine Health

I am sorry to hear you are hurting so much. I guess if I were you I would get current imaging of my back to see what is going on and talk to my surgeon. I don't blame you for not wanting a fusion. However, I just had one 8 weeks ago and I am doing better. I am able to go on walks, shop, coach my kids soccer team. Pain is no fun and it wears you down. The big question I would would want answered is will the fusion help me with my pain? If it will I would do it. As we get older I realize some pain is inevitable, but if the pain is really affecting your quality of life, something should be done to help you out. Good luck to you, I hope you find relief for your pain soon.

My pain comes and goes, but it is worse at night when I try to sleep. I have not figured out why this happens, it seems it has a mind of its own. I can handle the pain during the day, for the most part. However, at night when I am trying to sleep it is the worst, I wish I had some answers for you, hang in there, I hope you able to find some relief.

May 13, 2019 · Back issues causing problems with feet and legs in Spine Health

I will leave you with this, surgery is no fun for your back, I have had 3, but what I want you to know is sometimes a person just needs it. back pain is like no other I have experienced. suffering is not much fun, surgery can help a person feel better, my case was unique, my back just kept getting weaker, hopefully one surgery will do the trick. If that is the route that is decided, let me know and I would be happy to share my lessons learned. take care.
