Oct 7, 2019 · Has anyone had a tight band feeling after total knee replacement? in Joint Replacements

@slmichie1969 it is the same for me. Great ROM and I can walk all I want. The longer I stand or walk, the more intense the tight feeling. It just doesn’t feel normal and that can be very distracting and annoying.

The more I read on this site, it is apparent that complications from major surgeries can be quite varied and some very serious. I guess this particular thing we have is not serious as we have a knee that works well. It has just taken me awhile to come to terms with it. Please keep us informed about the cupping. I sure hope you have good results.

Hi @slmichie1969 i am so sad that you have experienced this weird tight band feeling for 7 years in both knees. I have had it for over 2 and tried nearly everything you have to no avail. On my one year check up, my OD told me I would just have to live with this, and that he did not know what caused it. I have good ROM and my knee serves me well. You can read my prior posts.

I came to this site looking for answers, but found a very few other sufferers who have had this side effect (longer than a few months post surgery) with no answers and no relief too. You have dealt with this longer than any of the past posters on this queston.

Trying to get my head to accept and to adjust to this seemingly permanent side effect appears to be my biggest challenge. I dont take anything stronger than a tylenol, so trying to rise above chronic pain is a challenge. Staying busy helps me. I check this site from time to time for a miracle cure. If i stumble across something that helps me, will share it with you all.

Oct 3, 2019 · Calcium and Vitamin D for bone density in Bones, Joints & Muscles

Hello, I take calcium and Vitamin D, even though I get a lot of sunshine in Oklahoma. I have osteoporosis and took Forteo for one year. It did not work. The doctor switched to a Prolia, and will have my dexa scan in a month to find out if it worked. They did a lot of blood work to determine why the Forteo did not work, but found no answers. The Prolia is making my leg bones and jaw bones hurt. My GP (not the doctor who treats my osteoporosis) wondered if my early complete hysterectomy (I haven’t taken estrace in 15 years) and high dosage of thyroid I must take daily, effect the absorption of calcium? Do any of y’all know?

Sep 19, 2019 · IT band syndrome after knee replacement in Joint Replacements

Hi @debbraw and @dickiedo I have tried one session of myofascial release for the tight band feeling that I have had right below my knee since my TKR in Oct 2017. I don’t know whether my problem is caused by scar tissue, fascia problems, or nerve damage, and neither does any medical professional I have consulted. It will take several sessions to know if this will work. It was very intense and painful. Too soon to tell if I am on the right path. If it doesn’t work, guess I can eliminate one of the possibilities of this daily 24/7 pain. Will keep y’all posted. Waiting to hear from anyone else who has good results with this treatment.

@jenniferhunter thank you for this explanation. One other question, can a massage therapist do mfr, or does it require a physical therapist? I am brimming with hope. Thank you.

Thank you for answering, will read all these articles. I feel like there might be some hope. Just wondering if one or two releases will do the trick, or if it requires on going treatment.

@artscaping I have been posting here for 6 months about a post TKR problem I have had that I call tight band feeling below my knee. It makes my calf “feel” contracted all the time too. I am almost 2 years post TKR and at one year my surgeon told me I would just have to live with this. I asked many questions, and got no explanation or answers. So I turned to this forum looking for fellow sufferers and answers. This is the first time I have heard of MFR. I have good rom and my knee works great, it is just my below my knee and lower leg that hurts all the time and makes my leg feel leaden when I walk a lot. No over the counter meds touch the pain. I refuse to take more opioid based meds. I had concluded on my own that this had to be some sort of nerve damage. Could MFR help this sort of thing? Thank you in advance for any information. Desperate in Oklahoma.

@medinafive , @lizzyisme , and @kibe75 thank you for your responses. I am intrigued about this ablation process and hope that Medicare will cover this.
