@sandyjr I just reread your post and saw that you have Crohns. My doc said that he hoped I would benefit from the FMT for Crohns as well. It would be hard to know since I had C Diff too, but he said he was aware that it is being tested for that purpose and he is optimistic that maybe it will he really helpful for Crohns!!!

@sandyjr I had the FMT on Feb 28 of this year. I got symptoms of CDiff on Thanksgiving Day of 2018. I was put on Flagyl which failed and 2-3 rounds of Vancomycin. Dificid was not affordable but the FMT was free. So bizarre.. Medicare. Anyway, I have many health problems. I’m on disability due to a combo of issues. I have Crohns Disease and due to that complicating matters and my recurrent C Diff, my doc recommended it. I had trouble getting my bowels back to normal for awhile but I think that’s to be expected. At least for me due to Crohns. I did not have C Diff issues afterwards. I would recommend it! I have had many colonoscopies so this was not any different than that and a colonoscopy is no big deal. You are asleep. My doc gave me Imodium right after the FMT but when I got home I leaked a little. Looking back, he wondered if he should have given it to me before. I live in a town of 100,000 in Texas so I was thrilled he could do it and had done it before!! I hope you get well soon!!!

@stuckonu I think we have all questioned the science behind the FMT but it’s genius when you consider the microbiome of the gut. Crazy. It’s gross to think about but I just had to get passed that.

@theminster1 My doctor just has me “clean out” the day before. Foods and liquids you can have should be provided by your doctor. Chicken broth, orange or green jello, coffee without creamer, juices like apple with no pulp, Some sodas… you have to avoid any red or purple juices/jellos etc. It’s a simple procedure and you won’t feel anything. The cleaning out process is not fun but you can do it! 😉

I had one in Feb of this year. I have not heard of them being that dangerous. Did the article say what caused the death?

And Clindamycin. The one that got me was Sulfasalazine…

@patts I’m so sorry you are still sick. I remember the feeling of “this is never going to go away!” I was so frustrated of feeling like the walking plague. My doc didn’t keep testing me. He went by my symptoms. I had 3 rounds of Vanco. My insurance wouldn’t cover Dificud. I had a FMT in Feb of this year and just now feel like I’m getting in a normal rhythm to some extent. I also have Crohns so it’s complicated. I want to give you some hope when you feel like you keep getting slammed! This group understands.

Those who are suffering from gas and bloating post c-Diff….. I’m trying this… I’m taking 100 mg stool softener every night as well as a gas-x every morning and night. My gastro prescribed Bentyl to take for the cramps. 10-20 mgs up to 4 times a day. It seems to be helping. Gas x has never helped me but I decided I was going to see. I also take 500 mg of Magnesium twice daily. Obviously, I am not having diarrhea again… 🤪. The first night I took the stool softener I had an accident in bed, so I had to play with the dose for awhile. I too am 47. 🙄

I am over the diarrhea but I have painful constipation. I bloat so badly I look 9 months pregnant and it’s like thumping a watermelon. Anyone else?
