FYI about loops. Our library has just installed a Loop in the Board Room. Last night the Board members were told to speak into the mics and keep the mics around 9 inches from their mouths. Well 7 Board members did that, and it was wonderful. Two board members slouched back in their seats and didn't try to make is work. After my anger subsided, I said to one member that he was too far from the mic (about 2-3 feet) and I could not hear what he was saying. He laughed and kept on slouching.

I use Innocaption all the time with my cellphone. My Hearing Aid is ok if I am in a Looped room. I have an appointment for a
CI evaluation in early June. I struggle all day to hear. It is exhausting. But, what if I have permanent dizziness or headaches
with a CI. A quandary.

Thank you. I will keep your response in my file so that after I meet with the doctor, I can ask a question. I
appreciate your generosity of time. Adelaide

Thank you. That is helpful. I am not sure which manufacturer includes the Mini Mic, but I would love to hear better in noisy situations. May I ask about the T coil. Do you use it in a room with a Hearing Loop? Anyway, thank you for answering.

I am having my first appointment for a CI evaluation. Do surgeons have statistics on the chances of a CI really helping? I know people who seem to hear very well with a CI and others who do not hear well at all.

I am being evaluated for a CI in May. Before that, I am meeting with doctors at Columbia Presbyterian and at
NYC Langhone Center. Does anyone have experience having an implant from either of these places? I am 79, so
concerned that I am too old. I am deaf in one ear and use a hearing aid in the other, but I really can only hear
using my FM device and holding the transmitter near the speaker.

I recently moved from Colorado to NJ. My Friend Group back in Colorado is now meeting on Zoom. I though,t oh no, more technology, but
it works really well. I can hear some participants better than others. We are meeting later today, and I have new, simple
headphones to see if that is better. I am being evaluated for a CI. Anyway, HLAA could have meetings using Zoom, or Skype is supposed to have captions
now. I have taken sign language, and I like it, but really never advanced because of what everyone is saying, and that is that
there is no one with whom to practice.
