Thu, Feb 14 9:10pm · Bilateral breast cancer w sentinel node removal: Lymphedema prevention in Breast Cancer

@sandyjr I had DCIS. I went for a double mastectomy because of my high risk. They found DCIS in the other breast. I had the sentinal node removed. I was told when you only have a small number of nodes removed it's fine to use that arm for bloodwork and blood pressure. My mom had a much more aggressive and advanced inflammatory breast cancer and had many nodes removed. I forget how many but double digits. She has lymphedema. When she has gone for other surgeries her arm is marked. There is no bloodwork allowed of checking blood pressure. She woke up from a surgery and the blood pressure cuff was on her lympedema arm! Needless to say it's worse now.
I have had a ton of bloodwork done ,my veins are really un co operative. I have told them to take it from where ever they need to.

@kellybeller I am so sorry! Did you have surgery 10 years ago or treatment?

@ccmars Exactly. When I was starting to have problems…I asked my doctor…could it be my heart? She said Julie your heart is just broken ( I had lost a friend) She later called me in the ICU to apologize . I told her…you are only human and we all make mistakes. Not many people think heart when it's a 30year old female. I've had this doctor for 25 years now. I hope from now on when I ask for a test we just do it lol

@merpreb Get on you tube and get back on it I myself work with acrylics . The lady that got me started is under Painting with Jane….I believe she has a couple watercolor tutorials but I haven't watched them yet. Another excellent teacher is The Art Sherpa….she has some watercolor tutorials. But I would do a search for simple watercolor tutorials in you tube. When you see a painting you'd like to paint watch the tutorial. I watch one, then watch it and paint. It is so great to pause it and get to where you want it and hit play. I cannot believe how someone could teach me to come out with a painting so complex. Some of the paintings that look difficult are actually simple to do. I really know nothing about watercolor.
In November I saw a picture of the large mass in my skull. When I had my surgery date I put all the painting stuff away. (I work at my coffee table) I had a count down until surgery day. That was January 7th. In January I finished 3 pieces .Letting your mind escape the stress..listening to the lesson and painting. I helps immensely
