Fri, Apr 26 11:16am · Foods to eat to keep creatinine level down in Kidney & Bladder

That’s awesome news! I received good news this week too. Creatinine dropped again this time to 2.35 (was 3.90 one year ago), BUN dropped from 41 to 28 and GFR up to 29 (was 16 one year ago). My new Nephrologist says I’m right on the border of stage 3 (have been stage 4 for past year) but is willing to call it stage 3. All the result of a low oxylate diet for the past year and 3-4L of water a day. Transplant discussion is off the table. Feeling optimistic.

Thanks. No liver panel yet and haven’t tested serum Creatinine recently. See new Nephrologist on Monday so will ask.

My Urine Creatinine dropped from 37 to 27 in just the last week. I read that could be the cause of taking in less protein, or issues with the liver. I am at Stage 4 with a GFR of 29. Any thoughts from the group?

I haven’t had any stones but do have severe oxylate damage in my kidneys. So I was on potassium citrate until my potassium went to 5.7-6.0. Low oxylate diet for the last year.

Thank you. I do that now, but mostly, I’m avoiding high oxylate foods altogether.

Sat, Mar 16 4:01am · Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat? in Kidney & Bladder

This thread has been informative for me. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 CKD one year ago, due to severe oxylate damage. I immediately dropped the high oxylate diet I was unknowingly on and the oxylate level is now normal. Unfortunately l, the damage had been done. My GFR has hovered around 22 for the past year and Creatinine around 3.00. Two weeks ago I completelt cut out dairy. This week, my labs showed the highest GFR at 27 since being diagnosed and Creatinine the lowest at 2.47. So, continuing that route in the hope I can get my GFR to 30. Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome.

That’s great news! I wish I had those numbers. My Creatinine has been hovering around 2.9-3.0 and potassium at 4.9:(. I’m at Stage 4 with GFR hovering between 20-24.
