I just went to ophthalmologist to discuss what can be done to help my vision. I have worn monovision contacts for twenty five years and glasses probably 2 hours a day. Vision is now not as clear. Options: Medicare lenses, I would continue wearing contacts and glasses or option two, $4,400 for Toric lenses. I could see without contacts or glasses and see to drive at night. Frankly, I don’t want to take a chance to spend all that money to be disappointed. I am frightened. To many variables. Too many unhappy people with surgery. I have read so much information to find out nothing is perfect. Hard sell for Toric Lenses. I am 73 years old. Any information would be most helpful.

LP is treatable but never cured. I use Clobetasol gel for for lichen planus sclerosis on vagina, clobetasol liquid for head. For my mouth I use Dexamethasone mixed with Nystaton. This a liquid steroid and with outbreak, rinse four times a day. Breakout at different times but using these drugs have kept LP under control and of course commitment to meds and lots of patience. I go to the only dentist in the largest city in US and past year have gone to Gynocoligist for vagina. Was going to dermatologist but was not very successful. Now I find out about escophageal LP which I did know about and am shocked. Scheduled for test on throat and hope it just needs to be stretched. Problem swollling.
Have had LP on and off 12. Hope I have been of help.

What side effect to you have with esophageal LP. I have oral LP and Vaginal sclerosis. I have had issues with ears, nose and hair.
I have recently had problems swallowing.
When I am stressed and have an outbreak it is awful. 12 years of searching for right doctors. I think I have found right doctors and treatments.

My dentist I use for LP is the only one in the large city Jacksonville, FL. I was very fortunate to find him. Most dentists and doctors don’t have any idea how to treat LP of the mouth.

I have been using this combination for 10 years and I am able to control oral LP. If I’m having an outbreak, rinse mouth 4 times a day. Only one doctor that I know of in this big city handles oral LP. Very sad. In response to LP being a autoimmune disease,it has not been proven.

I use liquid Dexamethasone (liquid steroid) as a mouthwash and it has cleared my mouth many times. I only use once a day now but with a breakout, four times a day with antitrush combined.

I am shocked at all the oral cancer from folks with Lichen Planus. Everything I have read is there is a very small chance of oral or vaginal cancer from LP or LP Scerlosous. I have had both for last11 years and have both checked every three months. Everything has calmed down after a very long bout.
