@hopeful33250 Hi I am doing a few exercises that the physio gave me to stretch some muscles and release my middle back. Waiting for a chest xray that was supposed to have been requested in November by the gastroenterologist.

@hopeful33250. Hi. The Multi Disciplinary Team met and discussed my case. They reviewed my PET scan from 2012 and saw that the cyst was there then, although smaller (I had a PET scan as I had an extra nodal lymphoma tumour on my scalp). It was decided that no further action is needed – not even a follow up Ultra Sound – I will argue about that at my next appointment in May. I have seen a physio about the pain. He has given me a few exercises to do at home. He feels a muscular tension in the area but doesn't know why. Too much of a coincidence for my liking. I feel I am not in danger at the moment and am willing to carry on with physio to see if the pain improves. Hope this helps anyone else who is diagnosed with a Splenic Cyst.
@hopeful33250. After talking to my GP today I decided to request a second opinion. He is still saying that my pain could be musculo skeletal but I feel that it is too much of a coincidence not to be the Splenic Cyst. I have spoke to my Lymphoma Specialist nurse and she is going to ask for my case to be reviewed by the Multi Disciplinary Team this week and she will phone me Thursday to tell me what they have said. This team consists of Haematologists from both of my 2 local hospitals and a Radiologist, so a second opinion may not be necessary. She mentioned follow up ultra sounds which is the first time that this course of action has been mentioned.
@jjohnson8747 . Hi, Although it is nearly 18 years since I finished my first chemo I remember not being able to taste some things. I found that drinking bitter lemon was a good flavour that I could taste and also sun dried tomatoes. I would sometimes cook something in a slow cooker with a strong smell so that I couldn't enjoy that even if I couldn't taste it. Beef was like cardboard and I couldn't taste coffee or beer!! Good luck.
@hopeful33250 . My pain started 6 months ago. No accident or heavy lifting etc. I have told all the consultants this. The pain is on and off all day. If I wake up in the night on my left side and there is the pain. The ultrasound result wasn't wrong as the CT scan confirmed that it exists.
@hopeful33250. Hello again. I have seen the Gastroenterologist again and he said to ignore the pain as it is a pulled muscle! (after 6 months of pain). I spoke to my previous haematologist who talked me through the types of cysts and said that it could either be an error on the ultrasound, or a cyst if I had pain similar to a heart attack on my left side. I told him I had heart attack pains on the right side and I had spoken to my GP about it. He said it was 'unlikely' to be cyst pain and to keep persevering with the Gastroenterology aspect!! The Gastroenterologist thinks I may have BAM (bile acid malabsorbtion) and is ordering a test for me and will see me in 4 months!! I asked why I would have to wait that long if the test results are positive. He said he will write to me. I don't feel that any answers are closer than they were 3 months ago.
@hopeful33250 Hi. Nether person that had written papers about Splenic Cysts, that I emailed, have contacted me. I left the letter for my previous Haematology/Oncologist at his new hospital. I had a phone call from the Patients Liason group to say that they have the letter (why it was addressed to him?) and did I want it to be passed on to their Haematology Department or the doctor I had addressed it to as he was on holiday. I have asked them to leave it for my previous Haematologist and was told that it will be left on his desk. Fingers crossed for a speedy outcome as I have a ferry booked to Spain on 1 February 2019. I still feel that my current Haematologist has fobbed me off. I just want to know the truth.
@hopeful33250 . I have been reading everything there is online about Splenic Cysts. I have decided to contact my previous Haematologist/oncologist and ask him if he can recommend another Haematologist for a second opinion. He is now the Director of Medicine at another hospital. Not heard from the guy I found the other day. I do see the Gastroenterologist again next Wednesday as we discussed the cyst and he said he would see me again f it wasn't Lymphoma.
