Sun, Jan 26 11:08am · I have started sweating after eating. Anyone else? in Women's Health

I have not experienced any sweating after eating, but I avoid sugar and all the stuff that you are not supposed to eat post surgery. I also don't drink for 1 hour after eating, but when I drink a bit too early I can tell. It hurts! I have had some health issues post surgery like reactive hypoglycemia and right upper quadrant pain. Sometimes so severe that I end up in the ER. I saw a GI doc and my bariatric surgeon and both suspected it was some sort of nerve issues but it really didn't feel that way. I was put on gabapentin which did help… I got frustrated and took the leap to get an appointment at Mayo. I'm really glad I did. They confirmed what the GI and surgeon suspected that it was in fact nerve pain from having back to back surgeries (Oh, I had to have my gallbladder taken out 4 months after VSG). I was given a trigger point injection and so far so good.
It can be very frustrating, but don't get discouraged. Someone out there is going through what you are and a doctor has seen this happen and can give you answers. DO NOT GIVE UP.

Heading to my first appointment at Mayo GI tomorrow. Any words of advice? I'm nervous that this is going to be a wasted trip, that I will be told it's all in my head.

He pretty much said that because I wasn't over weight that I couldn't have it. I had bariatric surgery in November of 17 and then my gallbladder out on March of 18 then the pain started in July of 18. I had a reread of my CT done and the doc who read it said yeh it's there (meaning the MP) but I would not have called it out on the imaging. It wasn't significant enough I'm assuming. I have read almost all there is to read about it it hink and feel like if the docs at mayo cant figure put what this is, MP or not, then maybe I am just crazy.

Thank you! I am traveling from St Louis MO. I actually work for a highly ranked academic facility which is why this is so frustrating for me that they can "figure out" what's going on. I was diagnosed with MP last summer via CT but the gi doc I went to said no I dont have the body type for it and looked at the ct and said no he didnt see it. I'm beyond frustrated and really need answers as this is affecting my life. Again thank you and I appreciate any insight!

I finally took my situation into my own hands and decided to reach out to Mayo to try to get in to see a GI doc there. I have an appointment in late Oct. I am looking for any advice about what to expect. I do not know what doc I will see yet, but am in the process of getting my imaging and notes from my GI doc here to bring with me. I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance!

Jan 25, 2019 · Always cold after sleeve gastrectomy in Digestive Health

Hi all!
I have experienced this as well. Even during the summer months I'm cold. I always bring a jacket with me where ever I go. Maybe from all the weight loss? My MD doesn't seem concerned with this and said it was normal. My core temperature is actually always at about 99.5 at least for the last few months. Not sure if it is due to something else pathological.

Hi @kimh. Yes I had a CT done when I was in er. Radiologists diagnosed me with MP. Then a re read the next day never mentioned it. I had a 3rd radiologist look and he said he would not have called the mp out on the report. Frustrating! No there has been no mention of biopsy or anything. Just going with the flow. Meanwhile I have pain all the time. I have had ibs for 20 years. This is not a new thing to me and I know what that feels like. This is entirely different. I started with right upper quadrant pain and I still have that. Now for the last 2 days I have had left lower quadrant pain to the point it woke me up several times last night. I'm just frustrated and at a loss. I appreciate your response. I may send my ct to mayo to see if I really have this or not. Lots of back story here too. I grew up in an area where Monsanto had dumped radioactive waste near a creek where I played as a child. Now there are cluster cancers being discovered. Google cold water creek if interested. It's a bit frightening.

Has anyone been put on Nortriptyline for pain? My GI put me on it and it was not worth the side effects for me. I'm really feeling like he thinks I have IBS. I have had I s for years and that's not what I am feeling. The pain Is almost constant but tolerable to a point. I have. A follow up appointment this week. I'm just not feeling g like he is listening to me and that he already had his mind made up about my diagnosis when he walked in the door. He said I didnt have MP because I dont have the typical body habits of those who do have MP. Meaning I'm too thin to have it. We will see what happens but I'm not very optimistic about my treatment or lack thereof.
