Hello this is Beryl …..have an update on my condition …….our travels to Sicily were too much and coursed my PMR to spread to my waist …..now gone down to the hips and of course a lot more pain with it ……
Had my six month visit to OHSU in Portland and my Doctor, to put a long story short , wants to get me off Preds as I have been on it for ten years …..and has put my preds up to seven and a half for two weeks to get the inflamation down, and then five until I see him again….added to this is Methotrexate and folic acid…..tapering …..so it's watch this space and see how I get on with this new mix of meds….well must smile and put on a happy face …….Beryl

Hello Barry my name is Beryl ….well I have just read your post , and by the way welcome , it's the sort of feeling that we all get ……difficult to judge about the methotrexate my Doc said it wasn't right for me so I presume that yours has thought it over and thinks it is right for you , but ask him why it is right for you ……
We all appear to be very fit before this strikes …..I asked my doc why is this so …..he said we don't know you work it out and tell me ……ok……
As for how and when you will be without PMR we are all different Barry and no one is the same ,some get over this thing in one or two years, that is what I was told at the beginning….well I am one of the lucky ones and have had it for ten ……but you know one of the things that helps is trying to feel as normal in yourself as possible …..don't stop laughing and having a good time attitude helps ……hark at me going on ……well my thoughts with many others are with you ……good luck with your recovery…..Beryl

Hello @sidsell my name is Beryl as you have seen you are not on your own with PMR although you feel like you are the only one in the world and nobody believes you that you are in such pain even though you can't walk and you feel that they think you are putting it all on …..I know been through the hoop with it …..but talking to the people that are and have suffered can give you the confidence you need to carry on……
You have an appointment I believe at the Mayo Clinic where you will be helped and looked after…….the very best of luck with your recovery …….Beryl

My name is @beryl and I empathize with everything you are saying it's all very frustrating and it isant like most things that just get better after a while you have to work at it and try to keep your chin up …..attitude helps a lot …..if you can only think to yourself that you are not the only one going through this PMR fight there are lots of us …..that's why it is good to talk to others that are going through the same thing …..well I am not suffering from glaucoma but have GCA in remission …..
John is very good and kind to help us in the way he does and we are all I am sure very grateful to him …..so keep talking it unfreaks you ….ha ha ……so good luck …..Beryl

Hello Thurst, this is Beryl……I have been reading your posts and am so pleased that you are making such good headway in your fight, and the way you are challenging your situation,……I admire the way you are sharing your experience with others that are fighting this condition ……Have you ever questioned a big animal vet to see if they have any information as it does seem to effect animals also and has been known in their world for q long time ……If a cow has this and the farmer calls in the vet he doesn't say it's your imagination to the cow does he….sounds a bit silly but true…….Beryl
