Hi. I was diagnosed seven years ago with ascending aorta dilation. I started at 4.1 now I am up to 4.5 cm. Cardiologist says cannot do anything until it reaches 5.0 -5.5. I also have mild to moderate regurgitation. Every time I go to the doctor I continue to worry every day but there’s nothing we could do. I have a lot of anxiety and I get palpitations all the time and I try not to think about it. But I know what you’re going through. I go every six months for a chest scan and echo cardio gram. I am on medication for anxiety but sometimes it doesn’t help when you keep thinking about it and getting the palpitations. Don’t worry we’re all in the same boat. Love to hear back from you

No but I’d like to have more info about that. Is that a stent that they put in up to the leg? I have a 4.5 ascending aorta dilation and I’m wondering if they could eventually do that with me. Did you have that same situation?

Please try not to be too anxious. Thank goodness you found it when you did. Sounds like you're in good hands now. Keep us posted on how you're doing and let us know how you make out after your tests. I was diagnosed in 2012. Mine was 4.1 cm in 2012 and is now 4.3-4.5 cm. I am going back the end of September for six month check up again. Another CAT scan or echo. Please don't worry and keep us posted on how you're doing it's good to hear from people. It helps all of us when we talk about it I think.

Hi Deby. Thanks for getting back to me. I have a bicuspid aortic valve also since birth. And heart mummer. I have my sixth month chest cat scan end of September. They say that is more accurate. My echo showed 4.3 cm and chest scan showed 4.5. So I will see what it is in September. I don't worry about this any more. Was diagnosed in 2012. I exercise on treadmill and don't do any heavy lifting over 20 pounds. I live in ct. Heard about mayo clinic. Where is that? Sounds like ours is pretty similar. Try not to worry.

Hi Deby. Are they recommending that you have the surgery now when it is 4.6? My doctor told me they usually wait until it gets up to 5.0. Was just wondering. How long have you had yours? I was diagnosed six years ago. Love to hear back.
