Feb 23, 2018 · What causes the bacteria to grow in some people and not other? in MAC & Bronchiectasis

Hello and thank you for the information. I will take note of my diet – I do not do sugar at all….I do have an egg now and then…must admit to loving cheese so will abstain and see how it changes. I try to stay bland as I have pancreas issues and don't want to stir things up! No spices or much beef…mostly turkey, chicken etc. we don't have a Kroger here so will have family in Atlanta send me some of the tea you mention….I am a Mayo Jacksonville Fla patient and that is where I learned of this site. I feel I am one of the truly lucky ones to be so close to such a cutting edge facility! I am using the nasal lavage as stuggested by another contributor and in only three days I already see some progress. Thank you once again. J

Perhaps a heads up for Florida east coast Mayo Patients might help next time….

How do I view discussions. We have been trying to get access for ten minutes and although I have pre registered nothing is coming up to view this video presentation. Are you having difficulties with the webcast? This is very frustrating……

Thank you for the welcome! Since starting the enzymes I find they “tell” me if what I eat is agreeable. Expect that sounds odd however I now know that Mexican and Italian food will give me some bloating and indigestion. I have also given up wine and am now totally a ginger ale drinker. I eat very little fried food…mostly bland. I know this sound dull and probably boring but when I remember my last hospital stay it certainly is the lesser of the two evils!

Thank you I am starting with nasal lavage again especially as we are in the pine pollen season. Have been doing bland food for a while since I have pancreas issues.

Good morning….I am not managing the phlegm very well at the moment. I take a Zyrtec every p.m. to help control my sinus drainage as I have had major surgery and now have zero turbinates- so steady stream of fluid. I stay away from milk products and that does seem to help. For several years I was sleeping on incline related to reflex problems however as I aged it began to really put pressure on my lower back so we have removed the incline at the moment. I would be very happy for any suggestions. My usual plan is to arise two hours prior to any appointment and cough the majority of the phlegm up!!! Warm black coffee is a help!

I am new to group and also pleased to hear of others experiences and coping ideas. I have had five episodes of pancreatitis in five years. After the last one my doctors ordered some gene testing….I have no gall bladder….the tests revealed I have a mutant gene for Cystic Fibrosis and that perhaps the mucus is causing the pancreas issues. I am now on enzymes and am happy to report that many of my digestive issues are decidedly improved.
