Mar 13, 2018 · Kidney stones in Kidney & Bladder

If the pain passes I doubt it is a kidney stone. The pain is continuous and is unforgiving.

Mar 13, 2018 · Kidney stones in Kidney & Bladder

@gman007, I remember my mmm experience with kidney stones like it happened yesterday. For me I remember watching a movie and then suddenly felt ill. I went to lay down and that's when I had symptoms. I was sweating profusely, at times I did not know if I had to use the bathroom or throw up. That was a back and forth deal almost every 5 minutes. The pain was intense. Pain worse than going through labor. I also remember feeling almost in a dazed and so confused. The pain was so sharp and excruciating. I was so taken back and not knowing what was going on after an hour and a half I knew something wasn't right. I got my daughter and her boyfriend and rushed to the ER. I drove. I don't know how I did it. They saw me and said I looked grey in the face. They said kidney stones asap. Ct scan confirmed. I had 2 one on each side both over 7 mm. To me the pain was worse than child birth. The pain is unforgiving and i think this type of pain one would know something isn't right asap. It's no joke. If you are worried go to the ER. Get a scan. I pray that you don't have one. Best of luck

Jan 5, 2018 · Final day at mayo in Chronic Pain

Today was my last day at the clinic. It’s been a long week for me and actually glad to get back. I am leaving with a small amount of information. I feel as this trip here could have all been done at home with my doctors.
Here is a little break down
I had blood work and and ultrasound
Ovarian cysts-have been aware of this
Polyops-that’s new
May have endometriosis-that’s new
End of it is a waiting game…..going on with that now for 2 years
I had a questionare done, ct scan, nutrition class
I had kidney stones- knew that
I don’t have one how- i would hope not
Class- told me what to eat and what not to but could not help me with what is ok to eat to prevent kidney stones and anemia.
Head ct
I have migraines- knew this
I have tension headaches- I knew this
Did not learn anything here other than what I knew
Chronic pelvic pain CBT group
Best part of mayo trip for me. I loved the lady who taught it. I learned a bunch and will be working on things that I learned there.
They never discussed my anemia nor my thyroid issue. These were within my top three issues. Why do I have anemia? Even the doc here said it was due to heavy flow. Nope….I will not got into detail but I have had several procedures done and know my cycle is not heavy. So What? Why? His response well continue on oral iron with vitamin C. I have for a month already I have really bad symptoms. I had a bleeding ulcer from taking iron pills. He says I should increase the dose. I said I will not. Something else isn’t right. Next question. Do you eat meat. I said I make sure of it . Oh………..well we will keep doing infusions. Let your primary deal with that.
I continued to question why I am so tired, nauseated, etc. All the time. He says I need to do more therapy. I am a firm believer in therapy but to get back to somewhat normal I have worked on my own with that and no improvement.
Thyroid. Yes I have a huge problem with that. We need to increase the meds. Let your primary work on that.
Let’s so some more blood work. Let’s set you up for a three day class. It’s for fibromyalgia. Finally something.
Now I got news that my iga is HIGH.
This was all discovered at or after my last appointment.
So…….did I gain anything from mayo? Yes their education classes were amazing! That’s why I only said i would come back. Other than that I do believe my mayo days are done. I don’t see why I should travel so far just to get the same results as I have over the last year.
I believe mayo is amazing and cab help so many people but in my case I am walking away with
You may have endometriosis, celiac, fibromyalgia, increase synthroid, and great educational information.

Jan 4, 2018 · When did you finally recieve answers? in Chronic Pain

Hi, I am new here but have had chronic back pain for years(5-7) and now chronic pain in my lower belly on both sides. I have been treated at UNC for the last few years but located back home to Chicago 4 months ago.
I was not happy with my care I was receiving in NC.
My back pain has been here for 5-7 years. I have 3 herniated discs, DDD, spinal stenosis and more. I have been on muscle relaxers and anti inflammatory medication. I stopped those as nothing helped and had a bleeding ulcer. I have had 2 different injections and had bad reactions to them. Since then I have had no answers and no help in relieving the pain. It’s an everyday pain in my lower back and hips.
In January of last year I was in the ER for the worst pain ever. Left finding out I had two very large kidney stones, two ovarian cysts and anemia.
Kidney stones were never found but assumed that they dissolved. Therefore, I don’t know what kind they were. Have not had one since.
I have reoccurring ovarian cysts. They are really painful and a constant pain.
Anemia has been a struggle. It’s not due to heavy periods, verified by tests. I can not take oral iron as that was the reason for my bleeding ulcer. Since December the doctor here told me to start taking iron again. I have for a month and have similar pain to when I had an ulcer. Next treatment is taking two pills. It frightens me to do this.
But back in NC I had two infusions. That got my levels in a lot better place but not where the normal levels should be

So my question is how long did it take for you all to finally get an answer to your pain? Even now I feel at a loss to what they have told me at mayo. It’s almost the same thing I have heard in the past. They through out some ideas. And of course the famous line “we will watch it and check it in a little”
I am just so sick of being in pain on a daily basis and having even docs say I am in such an early phase of chronic pain that I should be fine. I have no energy, I am not who I use to be and I don’t know how long I can keep up with this.
Thanks for listening to my rant. I am just so exhausted and sick of this all.

Thank you. I will probably go to chesters tomorrow. I had more than a 12 hour trip to get here yesterday. I so exhausted. So I may order from the pizza place you both recommended tonight. I stopped off at a breakfast place this morning which was really good.
Almost done with day 1. One more appointment to go to today then can finally rest.
Thanks for the great hints.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am not driving there this time. So no car. But I will be staying downtown near everything. I will certainly try some of those suggestions.
Thank you!
