Mon, Aug 24 9:14am · Surgery concerns in MAC & Bronchiectasis

Hi. The surgeon was made aware of poor lung condition due to untreated bronchiectasis and MAC prior to mastectomy. Because of that and afib a comment was made of high risk. However to my knowledge no special precautions were taken, and specifically asking the surgeon afterward there were no issues during surgery. Good luck with your surgery.

Thu, Aug 13 4:28pm · Anastrozole: Is it worth it? in Breast Cancer

Hi. Had stage 2 invasive lobular breast cancer. Mastectomy in December. Pathology read more like stage 1. Taking anastrozole since January. Was worried because super sensitive to meds. But honestly my side effects are very manageable, to the point of not being noticeable. Wish you well.

Bronchiectasis does not allow lungs to clean themselves as normal healthy lungs. Therefore the MAC bacteria once in the lungs is not cleared out as it would be in otherwise healthy lungs, leaving a nice comfy home for the MAC bacteria to settle.

@rosemarya glad you had a good walk this morning. Hoping I too can get back to walking. Starting on nighttime oxygen for shortness of breath. Sure hope that improves daytime breathing. Stay well.

Glad you traveled safely @rosemarya. Where in KY are you? I live in Lexington, KY. Don’t see KY too often in the posts.

@rosemarya nice to meet you as well. The heat and humidity does impact breathing. Honestly there appears to be no rhyme or reason to when or why in my case. Sometimes the most perfect of weather days is not perfect for me. Given up trying to figure it out. Allergy season and the pollen don’t help either. All we can do is keep moving as best we can. Happy walking!
