May 23, 2018 · MAC and Fatigue in MAC & Bronchiectasis

My husband's 2nd episode of MAC is in remission; after 6 months of Azithro., Etham. and Rifampin; sputums are negative, bloodwork essentially stable. He has been taken off all three for a week, because of excessive fatigue. Any help would be appreciated.

Nov 27, 2017 · Vicious GI circle in MAC & Bronchiectasis

As a MAC spouse (2nd time around), I’ve been struck by the vicious circle of this disease: the patient has no appetite, therefore eats little, and the total amount is not enough to encourage peristalsis, so to add to everything else, the poor patient ha varying degrees of constipation, which drives everyone nuts. It doesn’t seem fair (understatement).
I’ve been having my MACspouse take all of his meds with ice cream, the highest fat content available. Every little bit helps.

Nov 18, 2017 · Ondansetron in MAC & Bronchiectasis

Thanks for your reply. I’m a privacy freak, so will not talk about where we live. His care is good/adequate but kids are on us to get to Mayo for a second opinion/treatment plan, so we’re up for that.

Nov 18, 2017 · Ondansetron in MAC & Bronchiectasis

I’m new, here, the spouse of a MAC patient, who is on his second round of Rx, this time with Rifampin added to Ethambutol and Azithromycin. Last time he couldn’t tolerate the Rifampin. This time his angel of a Primary added Ondansetron (4 mg., dissolve on the tongue some time before eating). It has made a huge difference.I believe it is usually prescribed for the nausea associated with chemo.
In any event, I hadn’t seen it mentioned here – I might’ve missed the post.
