Hello @nm18 – your daughter sounds a lot like me! I am 21 now and was diagnosed with CG when I was 19! I had to have 4 transfusions it blood and 2 of iron! It was crazy! I had no idea but I was jaudenice so the ER admitted me right away. Then I had an endoscopy and they found a lot of collagen. I am due for another endoscopy this June to see if anything’s changed. This might sound crazy but last summer I went vegan AND gluten free and I had never felt better. BUT after 3 months I was super light headed again and fatigued so i added meat back into my diet. Right now I am being gluten free and dairy free. I am actually haven’t quite a few stomach issues right now and feeling light headed very often- and this is eating healthy foods. Whenever I eat gluten my stomach feels ‘bubbly’ and I am tired. And dairy really upset my stomach with bloating aching and pain. Sometimes I feel CG is very similar to celiac disease. Which is a good disease to look at and somewhat follow protocol since there isn’t much to look at for CG. If your daughter wants to contact me since we are close in age / have similar experiences she / you can DM me!

Hi Jamilynne, what is the holistic doctor doing for your daughter? I was considering getting into seeing one in the near future.

Thank you @kellye5 Would you recommend trying to find a way to see Dr. Murray??? Was the trip completely helpful?

As you know how frustrating this disease is trying to find a cause and treatment… I have appointments to see a hemocrat doctor, vascular doctor ontop of already seeing gastro & endocrin doctors. I just wish there was a way to know I am not wasting my time visiting these doctors & introducing the disease to them to in the end receive blank stares and no successful help. I would love to be able to get to see Dr Murray to maybe even get on the right tract for this disease if there even is one… I just feel like I am in the dark.

Symptoms: nausea, stomach aching/ sometimes severe pain & cramping & hard bloating, acid reflux, food sensitivity to really any food depending on the day, extremly swollen ankles/feet/lower legs (occurs randomly), anemia, iron deficiency, low protein (in blood).

Thank you for reading,

Does anyone have Dr. Joseph Murray email, or contact information? I live in upstate NY, 20 years old and in college- so I don’t think I can get to Mayo Clinic because financial reasons… But does Dr. Murray take emails or phone calls? Any recommendations?

Hi @epvb – you mentioned you have muscle aches and pains in your legs…. I expierence this randomly at least 4 times a month. They feel like growing pains but I am NOT growing. Is this what yours feel like? For relief I would rub rubbing alcohol (with a cotton ball) on where the pains is when I have it available then lie down. Heat also “helps”. Hot yoga is something I am trying to do more that seems to reallllly help bloating / body cramping. I hope this can help you and others.

Hi @epvb I appreciate your response and am so interested in hearing more about your treatments pros and cons! I am currently being treated by an Upper GI Doc (who dignosed me). We seem to have very similar symptoms. I currently have no iron again (my level is a 4)…..So I’m wondering why iron is depleting / where is it going in my body? I am also low in protein.
I am a HEALTHY nutritional eater so this all doesn’t add up. I haven’t been able to commit to a GF diet – How long were you GF for???? So many foods cause me to be super bloated, cramp, stomach bubbling/spazzms. Expecially chocolate 🙁 Are you Dairy free? I did try being vegan for a little bit (2 months) and I experienced NO stomach PAIN or Gas or any of the issues!!
Currently taking no meds except beginning iron supplemens. The main thing we are dealing with is the swelling in my ankles/ lower legs…….Wondering now if this is a heart condition, or Kidney issue?….. (I am not over weight & I am active so swelling doesn’t make any sense either)
Have you thought of a holistic nateopathic doctor?
