Fri, Jul 3 5:08pm · Adult Progressive Myoclonic Epilepsy in Epilepsy & Seizures

Hello: i apologize if this is a bit scant but i just had to respond, just in case. My cousin’s daughter in Austria had a grand mal in 2016 (after many years of epilepsy), she was incoherent and in a wheelchair/bed for weeks Until my cousin transferred her to another hospital where it was determined that it was Hashimoto’s disease. Within days she was much better and has not had a seizure since. I don’t know what medication she takes but would be glad to ask. I wish you all the best with your son.

Hello Lisa: thank you for asking about my symptoms. The feeling of doom and pessimism, together with the inability to think clearly, even the eyes don’t focus well, bothers me the Most. Typically, I’m a pretty humorous person with many friends and make friends Easily, but when the anxiety surfaces, i don’t even like to pick up the phone. Thank you for having started this dialogue, „matt.k.“, it makes these episodes feel more „normal“ to know i‘m not the only one experiencing this.

This post came just at a time when i was contemplating taking daily lexapro 5 mg again. My anxiety, together with brain fog, seems to start in November/December and gets MUCH better around April. For the last 3years i took lexapro from end November through mid April. The brain fog is very bothersome, it makes me unable to think clearly. When it happens, i usually take a long walk in the woods with a friend or my dog, i go more frequently to yoga as well as aerobics classes and try to be active – not always easy but always helpful. I hope your anxiety will het better after your exams. Good luck 🍀

Thank you all for the feedback re PHN. I will do just what you suggested; talk with my Dr. to modify the dosage and/or timing.

I have a comment/question that may seem silly to some but is very important to me; I have been prescribed Gabapentin (Neurontine) for prevention of PHN (after shingles). After one pill i got very dizzy and started reading up on it. I found it a bit scary to realize that gabapentin is for epileptic and other seizures as well as psychoses. The side effects seem very severe as well. Given that this has been prescribed for me prophylactically, i wonder if the side effects are too severe? I am supposed to take 3×300 for seven days, then 2×300 for seven days, then 1×300 for seven days. Have any of you had this prescription for PHN ? Thank you,

I had an MRI done and was told it is either Morton’s or Metatarsalgia, so thank you, you are spot on. I have tried moleskin for the metatarsalgia which is somewhat effective. May i ask what kind of metatarsal pads you are using?

I have just completed a bout of shingles and have had PHN tor a few days now, starting at the scalp, migrating slowly to the temple (mostly right side) , then earlobes, starting eith upper, middle, lower. It is a shatp, electrifying pain, lasting from 5-55 seconds, repeating every few minutes. I have been prescribed Neurontin but it made me feel sick, after reading the prescription i realized it must be very powerful, it is an anti-epileptic, anti-seizure medication, i have decided to outwait the symptoms. In addition to the shingles-related pain, i have for many years had stinging/burning toes when hiking more than one hour, as well as numbness of the right toe, i was told it could be Morton’s neuroma. Does anyone know of any natural remedies? Frankly, i am afraid of Gabapentin! I worry it will play with my brain as it is an antiseizure med! Thank you! Elisabeth
