Hi @peggyj4411
I have worked as a Pharmacy Tech for 7 yrs. I can tell you quite honestly that anyone at anytime can become allergic or sensitive to a drug or drugs. I have personally witnessed this & heard others express their uneducated doubt. Fortunately in today’s smart phones the medical app is a Godsend ! Being aware of your allergies and or/ sensitivities is vital to your health and well being. I applaud your self care would encourage everyone to take a lesson from you and your difficult experience! Take care please !

Like this advice. Thank you so very very much. Had a rough day. You helped me a lot!!! (Caring for frontotemporal love of my life).
Very very helpful. We logic it out, our affected loved one don’t. Like that very much!!

We are always here for you! Totally get your challenges, had a whole day of my LOML of 20 yrs being on a tear about no real anything. Things we deal with, having to find a car to replace my 2002 little Saturn is daunting for him to say the least. I am learning to yes him to death, not talk about much of anything real, showing him pics in my tablet he seems to like. Will try those coloring books made for adults next. He likes crossword puzzles so maybe will like to color. He mimics what I do at times, have been told it’s part if his right front brain injury from his carotid stroke. Today the dinner plate was perceived to be uneven on the bottom, I just agreed thereby validating him and relieving some anxiety. Prayers for You and all of us, I love the people in this group, they truly are the best!!

Only us who live this way understand how much it takes. I will continue to ask God for strength and peace for all of us caregivers, they say much is asked of to whom much has been given. I pray also for endurance so we may continue to care for our cherished loved ones.

We have the Roskamp Clinic here in Sarasota , Fl. Please if you can google them. They are doing cutting edge research on all forms of dementia (Alzheimer’s , Picks disease , FTD (frontotemporal Lobe Disorder).
We are all in this together. I have a stroke survivor. The debris hit the right front part of his brain. The personality changed from this damage very very quickly.
Know you are doing your personal best. Know that any help or information you can get is a lifeline. A sympathetic doctor or hospital social worker is heaven sent ! Take the best care you can, this is tough sledding ! We are all with you!!

Feb 22, 2017 · What to do when people ask: How may I help you? in Caregivers

I like the frivolous snack ! In desperation I did just that last week. My LOML of 20 yrs was very sick with the flu. Against my better judgement I bought him his favorite chocolates and just left them in the bedroom where he cocooned himself for 2 wks. He ate them and then let me bring him soup and salad. Slowly he physically got past this awful bug. In his thoughts he was probably more anxiety ridden as dementia sufferers tend to get that way from physical malady. We are back on our peculiar “even keel” our ever changing “new normal”. Thank you for getting it, only those living in this reality truly “get it”
