Jan 11, 2017 · I've lost everything - got into the painkiller thing and got addicted in Mental Health

My name is Janine…So sorry to hear you ‘re in an awful state. Having been in a marriage to an alcoholic for 23 years, I know well how your wife feels. We’re definately a miracle couple… In 1990 to 1994 my job was Substance Abuse Tech. in the Connecticut Parkside Lodge (Detox Unit) Rehabilitation Facility. Addiction is a real problem, it doesn’t just go away because it’s unwanted. Do yourself and your family the biggest favor, go to Narcotics Annonymous for help. If you can’ t find any NA Meetings, go to Alcoholics Annonymous. The only difference between the two is the substance you’re hooked on. Since it IS a Disease, you’ll need all the help and support you can find. The people in your group understand better than anyone else ever could. Let them help you, like you used to help your Mom.

The smartest thing would be to get free of any situation which encourages using your drug (or alcohol….don’t make the mistake of switching addictions.)
Life is lived one minute, one hour, one day at a time…..get with a 12 Step Program, regular NA Meetings, and social support. It’s been my opinion that we eat too much, or drink too much, or do watever we do too much to ” fix” our feelings and comfort ourselves. But that isn’t really a solution, it’s the opposite. If you are sure your’e miserable and want to get your life back….Do the meetings, 12 Steps, And Go To a Rehab so they can help you get off the narcotics. The only way you can beat addiction is with 100% Commitment. COMMITMENT to that Goal. In the process, you will find your answers. If it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for…..It’s all about Choices. Bad one take us where we don’t want to go! So make some Good ones! I watched the pain my husband’s alcoholism inflicted on his son (and parents, and me)…. quit for your family and yourself.
CALL NARCOTICS ANNONYMOUS. They will help you get it together. GOOD LUCK !!!! It is good you want to stop using, that is what it takes to do it. Some people never want to stop. Your’e on the way to recovery, just take the next step, a phone call to NA. If u can’t find NA ‘s telephone get AA’s, they will be able to get NA’s number for you. Reaching out is the first step !!!!

Jan 10, 2017 · Amphetamine in Mental Health

I have Add, and have been taking Adderal XR fairly consistantly for 16 years …I just lost my Medicaid, though so I had to switch to the short-term dose. The XR was 60 mg , now it’s 80 mg q4 hrs. When my young son was growing up he took it, too. He had the problem of not being hungry, thus didn’t want to eat. He did lose weight, we took him off meds for the summer, and put him on Ritalin instead. He gained back his weight, but said Ritalin wasn’t as effective for his

acute ADHD symptoms. He was taking 110 md qd…now he takes 30.He did well in school, he graduated (whew!!!) and takes it at work, only.
. I take it , and don’t have any noticeable side effects. I wish it made me lose weight, but it doesn’t… I feel happy and really alert, it’s a life saver. My Add is the lethargic type, daydreamy, can seem to finish anything without adderal….It helps my focus, so I don’t have CAR ACCIDENTS anymore, too.
