Sun, Feb 3 7:52pm · shingles and neuropathic pain in Bones, Joints & Muscles

Hi @gmaw4 I also have nerve pain after having shingles in the left leg 9 years ago. I am on gabapentin 300 mg x 3 at bedtime. Doesn't really help that much. What else is there? I also take paramipexole 0.5 MG 1 morning and 2 at bedtime. I also have chronic pain from neck to lumbar spine. Needless to say I don't get much sleep.

Thanks John for the information on Cryotherapy. I don't believe that it sounds like something I would like to try. I don't like to be cold. I just keep praying that the doctors will come up with something that could help, But as some one said "there is not magic pill". I would be interested to try most anything, except being "frozen"!.

I have tried CBD, but all it did was making me dizzy and made me feel weird. I didn't like the feeling. I have tried several pain meds which did the same. I can't function while on them. I have had several medial branch injection, and a stimulator, that didn't work either.

What is cryo? I am open to any suggestion that would work. My last pain doctor gave up on me because of my age. I asked him if just because of my age (82) does that mean I have to be in pain all the time? His answer was "yes". I am looking for a new doctor.

@hosta You should not be so frighten! They do this all the time. It is quite safe. If it is going to work, you should see some ease in your pain soon after the procedure. How much do you know about your doctor? Do you trust him (her)? Trust in your doctor is 3/4 of the battle. Have Faith in the doctor and in God!

@hosta. You should see a difference in your pain level after the anesthesia is gone, in an hour or so. They will call you the next day and ask how long it lasted. That will determine if they continue with the series. At least that is what they told me.

@hosta Yes, I had a series 3 medial branch blocks in the neck area, and 5 -7 in the lumbar area. Each time I thought the first one was working, so they did the second one. But they really didn't work for me. I personally know one may that they made a big difference for him. I was given a IV and when I got in the procedure room, the anesthesia was injected in the IV. It was just enough to put me in NA NA land. The Doctor does use a x-ray to guide the needle where he has decided where the problem is coming from. Out of all that I had, I only had trouble with the last one and I am sorry to say that one really did hurt. So it does work on some people and most of the time there is no problem. It is just like any other procedure. Good Luck. God Bless!

Sep 10, 2018 · Anyone here dealing with peripheral neuropathy? in Neuropathy

@barbarn– I was on Requip for several years then my new neurologist put me on Phampexol 0.5 MG. I take 1 in the morning and 2 at bedtime. It works really well most of the time. I also take Gabapentin 300 MG 3 at bedtime for the shingle pain in the left leg. If I could only find something for the back pain, I would be a new person! Ha. I read other people's posts and then I know that I am blessed. God Bless and good luck!
