12:00pm to 1:30pm CT

Description

The Prostate Cancer Support Group is an in-person and virtual group for Mayo Clinic patients and their caregivers. The group meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from noon to 1:30 pm CT.

Each month guest speakers from the Mayo Clinic oncology team provide education on specific topics related to prostate cancer. Following the presentation and Q & A time, members share information and experiences.

On July 12, we will watch a recorded presentation by Dr. Jennifer Reese of Fox Chase Cancer Center talking about "Sexual Concerns of Cancer Survivors."

In-person space is limited, but all are welcome to participate via Zoom.

A short comment as the above topic RARELY is discussed frankly with men having prostate cancer. The intimacy of such a topic is often not broached by physicians 'caring' for prostate cancer patients. Honest discussions about retrograde ejaculation, a decrease in seminal fluid and a blunting of the pleasure of orgasm are two topics that I would say "rare or never" discussed apply. Many docs treating men for prostate related health matters do not objectify their treatment with scoring systems for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and do not offer means to improve LUTS other than surgical approaches or prescription pharmaceuticals. The latter is often prescribed without assessing potential drug interactions, such as the drug interaction checker available to all on Medscape. I would provide the URL but this is not allowed on this site. I wonder if Dr. Reese will address these issues relating to men with prostate cancer and prostate disease in the forum today?

Is there a link where I can see the meeting, if it has been recorded ?

REPLY

Why aren’t these meetings recorded with a link to them. We have been interested in the last 2 topics but have been unable to watch them.

REPLY

I had my urology appointment during the time of the recorded discussion. Is there a possibility to watch this again, please?
Thank you!

REPLY

Why is there no one to answer these questions?
There is an obvious interest in being able to access recorded sessions.

REPLY

Can the person who monitors this site please address the noted concerns.
Either:
1. No one monitors or replies to the comments- in which case why is there a blog?
2. There is another method of having questions or concerns addressed.
