What can cause a sudden lengthening of the stoma in the absence of any symptoms. What should be done about it?
My understanding is that it may be common occurrence. Suggest talking to a colorectal surgeon.
How much change in length are you talking about?
doubled in length but resolved itself within hours and there's been no recurrence.
Ok. Mine goes from flat or sometimes in a bit to put an inch or more.
Has anyone experiencing post operation pain for a considerable amount of time after surgery?
After guided imagery loop surgery to remove a sigmoid cyst, my pain returned 2 days post op. It continued to increase to severe over next week. Surgeon phone response was that I was having antibiotic side effects. I ended up having emergency life saving surgery which required two surgeons to perform hysterectomy and colonoscopy from sepsis after FAILED first procedure. Increasing pain not normal. Seek treatment asap!!
Never had such an experience but reinforces my instincts to not ignore pain. Cannot imagine any MD suggesting that antibiotics cause pain.
Glad your good sense triumphed.
